New nighttime show at MK?

The story goes... The Paris nighttime show was actually designed and proposed for WDW...But TDO did not want to spend the money to improve the infrastructure for it....and it instead went to Paris...
Maybe they regret that and are finally going to do a similar show...we could only hope.
Nearly. It was designed for Paris.

WDW was offered a similar version. Lots of similar infrastructure. They said no.

Here's what was proposed in 2011

Existing infrastructure plus:
Hub waterway fountains
Synchrolights
Flame jets
New Tink rig

And since then it was proposed to integrate the MMY projection system into any future show. Plus the castle lighting system has Now been updated as a separate project.

I would bet the show we get would cut the flames and water and focus instead on pyro with projections and the synchrolites. And that would still be nice. We will soon have three shows with fountain and fire (I assume RoL will have fire; the other two obviously do).

What you are suggesting is very similar to what Tokyo Disneyland has in their late nighttime spectacular, Once Upon A Time. However, they do not have large pyrotechnics.

I am hoping we would keep the large scale pyro since what I mention would only require synchrolite installation.

I think that's a safe bet. Mk is the only castle park now without syncrolites.

As we've said before over the past few years, any show introducing more media can not be an excuse to cut the amout of pyro used. Dreams was done for a reason. Mk doesn't have that reason. But it's been discussed over and over.

Exactly. I love Tokyo's latest show but large scale pyro would put it over the top. Though, some lasers would be nice too:rolleyes:.

I don't think they could do that in Tokyo because of the constant wind off of Tokyo Bay. Everytime I've seen the fireworks in Tokyo, the smoke seems to be blowing away at about 45 mph. It's a very windy site, which is why Tokyo's fireworks shows are still so 1980's basic.

But Magic Kingdom Park doesn't really have any excuse not to have the biggest, boldest and best equipment and the widest array of effects at their disposal.

WDW's Magic Kingdom has the most space, they have the most favorable political ability of any Disney property, and they have the artistic and technical ability at their ready disposal. They apparently lack the will to open a checkbook.

Exactly. There is no excuse for the Magic Kingdom. Another problem with large fireworks in tokyo is the fact that both of the parks are so close together! You can't really do a large firework show in one park without disrupting the other. I believe when they do large fireworks shows, they are really short in time and the music for the show is broadcasted in both parks, but i may be incorrect.

That's been a rumor for years. They re-did the hub so they could improve guest flow AND so they could have dedicated FP+ viewing areas for the fireworks.

The east bypass is for the insanely busy nights, when they have to open that area up for guests to exit. Now at least it will look magical instead of a wasteland of dumpsters.
Just to clarify on this, we've had the East Bypass open almost every single night of operation since early January. The park has to be completely DEAD for them to not use it. It's the WEST bypass that is up in the air all the time on if it will get used or not...

This is correct. The fireworks are usually only around 5 minutes in length and music is played for both parks. Since both parks have their own respective nighttime spectaculars, the fireworks are seen as just a nightcap. The shells are quite basic and there is little choreography or synchronization with the music.
