Anyone remember all the ________ Tracy crap they used to have. Anyway, were they really starting work on a whole Muppet land(I rember the backlot tour guide saying muppet stuidos is comming in 91 on the video) back then or was it just the 3D show that was covered up? I am going to go dig out my old movies, and have another look at MGM back in the 90's. remember the ninja turtles van riding up and down the streets, MGM sure has changed.

I remember it all. "When I were a lad..."

Muppet*Vision 3D isn`t in this area - it`s on the opposite side of New York Street. There was some sort of single story structure behind this wall being built too. I`m uploading a 2 part video (hopefully) this week to Disney Central of Disney-MGM`s history, this clip is ono it. And the D Tracey hold up. And the turtles...

It could be a bit like toontown i guess... with lots of visual gags and sounds. There is already a sort of section isn't there? With the muppet store, the snowy alley up to Pizza Planet. hmm

Marni, thats a GREAT picture, thanks for sharing! I'm going to have to look through all my old photos... the more I look at that picture, the more I remember seeing it in person...

...But I agree with most of the people here. I think a Muppets land would be perfect for MGM. It would be great for kids and adults who grew up with the Muppets, and it would also introduce the next generation of kids to the muppets!

I've been so excited with all this muppets talk, I had to break out the tape of the Muppets in Disney World! It's beautiful at the end when Mickey welcomes them to the family!

Now that we have the French Stunt show,...

How about replacing the Indy Stunt Show with the terrific Indiana Jones ride from DL? I think it's theming is among the best anywhere, comparable even to the ToT at Studios.

I am not sure Studios needs two stunt shows. Even though I am sure the cost of the Indy ride is enormous, it cannot be more expensive in the long run than maintaining the Indy Stunt Spectacular.

I hate to see live performances reduced further, tho. In my book, the best thing at Studios was the Hunchback show. Still miss it. I guess I am alone in that regard, but it was absolutely the best.

All right; possible upgrades for D-MGM now include...

>> A Muppet area, including the GMMR

>> An Indiana Jones EMV attraction

>> An updated Star Tours

>> A mystery dark ride for the sound stages (By "mystery," I mean that we don't know what it is; it's probably not going to be based on mystery films.)

Do you realize that if Disney accomplished this, the Studios would possibly be one of the most popular theme parks worldwide? Furthermore, since all of these rumors are based on actual plans or pre-existing attractions, there's a good chance that some of this will materialize.

Now if Disney could only find something worthwhile for the sorcerer's hat...

Yes Yes Yes! I still clearly remember the monorail crashing through the theater wall. I've got an mp3 of the show audio, but I would loooove to see a video of it. I've been collecting all of your amazing tribute videos, Marni. Can't wait to see these new MGM videos!! :sohappy:

Thank you! I`m hopefully uploading MGM part 1 tonight - both should be available for downloading from Disney Central in a week or so. And yes, `Here Come the Muppets` is on it. With source audio.

That's very cool! I have some old snapshots of the show that never came out very well - I really look forward to seeing HCtM again!

I also have videos of the muppet show at MGM. Miss Piggy dancing with kermit. I do have to say I always thought the actors dressed as the Muppets looked a little strange, but you still got to love it.

I just came back from the Disney Store on Fifth Avenue here in NYC. Right as you walked into the store there was a very large display area of all things muppet, including a stuffed Bean toy.

Wait... Sesame Street is owned by The Childrens Television Workshop. Disney unfortunatly can't use them. However since they have Bear in the Big Blue House they can use them which they are already using in Playhouse Disney Live.

Too Bad anything pertaining to The Dark Crystal or Labrynth hasn't been mentioned. Those were really awesome films and would make for some cool attractions of some kind!

I am so happy Disney finally bought the Muppets. I hope we see some really creative use of these characters in the future. In the meantime, why not bring back the HERE COME THE MUPPETS show to MGM (in the old SuperStar TV theater). There is nothing going on in that theater, the show is already created and most of all - MGM needs new things to do.

Problem is, the Muppets are sort of yesterday's papers, aren't they? Disney might as well do a Ninja Turtle land. Sad to say much of the genius of the Muppets died with Jim Henson.

Speaking of the Ninja Turtles, does anyone remember that show in MGM or the Goosebumbs show and the hall of mirrors

Considering I was at the grand opening of the Ninja Turtle show, when It was new, yes I remeber it. That was a very good trip. I got to see Michael Eisner in person, Here Comes The Muppets offically opened, ________ Tracey premeried at the resort, and little sisters first time at Walt Disney World.

I have a photo of Eisner talking to Entertainment Tonight, I believe as well as some muppet and turtles photos.

Yeah. A Muppets area would be awesome. I don't remember any of that old stuff (my first trip to MGM would have been 1993, and I was only 5 then) but a whole Muppets area would have been great. Muppet*Vision, the Muppet Great Movie Ride (or maybe a ride showing the "creation" of Pigs In Space-The Movie; Disney could get a full-scale ride from that alone) and some shops and restaurants. And the largest collection of sight gags the world has ever seen. I think the Muppets are popular enough, though; all they really would need to do is start a new The Muppet Show (another high on my wish list). However, Sesame Street was NOT brought with the Muppets. (I'm not too sure about Fraggle Rock though; I only ever remember seeing it on the Disney Channel in the first place.) Well, I gotta go now; Muppets.com FINALLY loaded up!

Hey...
how about having Animal take over DAK... they could turn the Tree into a big drum set a-la Stitch TPing the castle....
:hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

jk

Serisously, all this reading about the muppets is making me crave a MV3D trip... and a trip to WDW in general...
*sigh* :brick:  :(
