New MARVEL attractions to Disney Parks

I love the Avengers and I love Marvel, but I'm far more interested in having Avatar in AK. (though I'd love to see Avengers take over Stitch in Tomorrowland...)

That's pretty much how I read that too.

Universal requests to build a big e-ticket Avengers ride that blows away anything Disney has built in the last 20 years. Disney gives them a knee-jerk "no". Universal sues. Judge says, "What is your objection?" Disney's answer can't be "because this would be good for our competition". They have to have some reasonable objection.

Now, if Universal is unwilling to go to court, Disney can just shut them down. But I think Universal knows this. So if they really want to build an expansion, they know they will likely need to go to court to do so.

The flip side is, I think Disney would be embarassed to go to court and be painted as unreasonable bad guys. I can see the headlines proclaiming the Mouse to be like Dr. Doom. Disney hates bad press. So, maybe they play nice (relatively speaking.)

My point is, I do think Universal could eventually expand if they were interested enough to do so. For the present, I think they are content with the popular franchises they can use without resorting to legal action. Building more HP first makes the most sense. And Transformers seems obvious.

Somewhere down the line though, I could easily see Universal pursuing a Marvel expansion of some kind. And I don't really think Disney could stop them. At best, I think they put up road blocks.

I sure hope that is the case, because I am a HUGE fan of the Avengers movie, and the idea of IOA doing an Avengers attraction on MSHI- well looking at what they have done with Spiderman and Potter, I'm sure it would be a mind blower! :sohappy:

Unfortunately I think the incredibly amazing success of the Avengers movie has caught them off guard, and they already seem to have two construction projects going at the same time, so it would be hard to just whip up something *else* fantastic just out of blue sky, but hey - a guy can hope (and dream and pray) :slurp:

This just in: After consulting with their lawyers, Disney is planning to have a new attraction based on the previously un-heard of franchise: The Revengers.

It includes these characters:

Incredulous Bulk
Commodore USA
Steel Dude
FJOR
Dark Spider
and EagleEye

They'll take part in an epic attraction built somewhere between Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios...with the entrance somewhere outside of the berm of either park.

Ok folks, I'll handle this one.

I'm gonna guess that since this is artwork from the park that became IOA, it means that it's old. And it probably also means it was created 5-10 years before IOA opened, meaning it was probably created around the time that the obscure tim burton movie was a smash hit on everyone's mind. Also, the movies will always be more iconic and popular than the comic books regardless of quality.

Well, let me say this. There are probably more people who are familiar with the 90s Batman Animated Series then there are people who remember Batman Returns. It was a big movie in 1992 but quickly faded into obscurity. The only reason even a few people remember it now is because Michelle Pfiffer did an iconic turn as Catwoman but that was about it.

And then there's people like me who wasn't even aware there was a Batman animated series, but I've seen (and remember well) all the films....

It's likely an age thing. Most of us old enough to remember when the Adam West Batman series was still running, probably have no clue about an animated series.

Is it weird that I remember all of them? Guess I'm just a geeky nerd.

How could one forget the Batman movies of the 90's?

I mean, they gave George Clooney nipples on his Batman outfit... It was a HUGE deal back then!

Actually when you look at the highest grossing films of all times - many already have an attraction or WOULD lend themselves easily to an attraction.
Ddin't you hear? In order for Avatar coming to WDW Cameron insited on Titanic the water slide coming to Blizzard Beach, which will be rethemed to a North Atlantic theme, the mountain changed into an iceberg. :sohappy:

The Avengers breaks the second weekend record previously held by Avatar. First time a movie has broken the 100 million dollar level in the second weekend of release. The movie also broke through the 1 Billion dollar mark globally this weekend.

That is a lot of pop corn.

Perhaps Disney can come to some sort of understanding with Universal where they can buy the rights to just 1 or 2 franchises from the Marvel Universe from Universal? I would rather have Asgard land then New Fantasyland to be honest with you and i'd be on the next plane back to CA if they had Marvel rides at Disneyland/DCA.

If we're gonna dream, we might as well dream big.
