New MARVEL attractions to Disney Parks

If you have been reading the thread or the contract, you would realize that this is not an acurate representation of the situation.

I won't go so far as to say you are wrong. But you definitely aren't right.

I think I am. Of course if you believe Uni can do as it pleases with Marvel IP I am sure Marvel characters will be in the new parade in addition to other venues at their studio park. And of course a new Hulk m&g is just around the corner. Right?

No, they can't do as they please. And they have to maintain certain standards with the characters.

Of course if you can actually prove I am wrong with facts I am sure everyone would applaud you and buy you lunch.

Why would they put Marvel in a parade at the other park? Studios /=/ Islands. They actually do already come out in a bit of a mini parade within the Island, so I'm not sure what yourp oint is...

Well, yeah. They have to portray the characters accurately. That goes along with almost ANY licensing agreement. Uni just upgraded all of the character costumes and the Spider-Man ride... those are facts. It certainly seems like they can do as they please. You have nothing to suggest otherwise.

Just for kicks, here's Gary Goddard's original concept for a Batman ride for the park that would eventually become IoA. Cool.

Why do you sometimes see the Fab 5 in World Showcase? Just some of life's great mysteries.

OK, Lee is trying to grab our attention with shiny objects and abrupt noises so I think I will oblidge and drop this conversation for now.

Thanks Lee.

 That would've been so freakin' cool!! I wish Six Flags or WB Movie World could do something for Dark Knight Rises this summer. I'll even volunteer to shave my head and do a Bane meet & greet if that's what it takes. (Sorry, I don't have the legs to pull off a convincing Catwoman). But something needs to be done to incorporate this film into a park, especially considering the box-office $$$$ it's expected to reel in.

Just because a movie rakes in money doesn't mean it needs an in-park attraction.

Why on earth would they base it on a lame, now obscure tim burton movie from the early 90s? They should have been more faithful to the comics rather than emulating the poorly made burton/schumacher batman films. Penguin is a lame villian anyway.

Woody Woodpecker, Universal's equivalent of the "fab 5" (not that I agree they have the same pedigree), can be found in both parks. There is no other character (besides maybe Winnie, Popeye, and Bullwinkle) that appear in both. They appear in their themed land - and that's it. If you're insinuating that Marvel can't appear in the Studios park - you're probably right. But I don't understand why they need to? Any expansion to Super Hero Island will occur, you know, in Super Hero Island...

Ok folks, I'll handle this one.

I'm gonna guess that since this is artwork from the park that became IOA, it means that it's old. And it probably also means it was created 5-10 years before IOA opened, meaning it was probably created around the time that the obscure tim burton movie was a smash hit on everyone's mind. Also, the movies will always be more iconic and popular than the comic books regardless of quality.

It wasn't based on the Burton film, it was based just on the comics, I'm told.

I wish I could find it, but there was other concept art out there - radically different art, as I recall. It had an overview of the entire "island" and specific rides... one of which seemed to involve the batmobile, another was the coaster. Obviously the Island reflected Gotham City.

I think it was on eBay a couple years back, actually.

Your right it was on eBay a few years ago, might be close to 4-5 years now. It was really impressive it was the designs for the entire island. If I remember correctly it was the actual proposal Universal gave to DC to try and secure the rights. That's one auction I still regret to this day for not winning.

As much as I like Marvel and Marvel Superhero Island, to this very day I'm still saddened the DC/Batman island never haPpened. I'm more of a DC Comics guy, and I would have loved to have seen a far better DC themed area than what we get from Six Flags. Most of them are so cheap...the names just slapped on coasters with cutouts of the character on the entrance sign.

To this very day I hope if and when MSI gets replaced, it's not Transformers but instead DC Comics taking over the island.

Interesting in that the joker's wild coaster may have been the genesis of the new coaster at the studios park. I realize it is not a suspended coaster but the way it weaves around the park is somewhat similar.

Hotels etc?

WDW is not a theme park. They have 4 of those at wdw. While Disney is adding marvel rides across the world, could wdw add marvel to a hotel or add characters to a marvel section in downtown Disney? They could even do marvel stores, restaurants, min golf, etc as long as it isn't a theme park? This could help build the brand to Disney fans (boys already love the marvel shows on the Disney channel) and make money at the same time. Plus it would ________ off universal, which is always fun. It worked for the monorail. Thoughts?
