New Luggage tags correspond with Magic Band Color

Those are so cute! Looks like I'll be getting a Goofy tag. ;) I only wish these were in the classic animation style. I'm not a big fan of the new style- and neither are my girls. :\

Well, we just bought 4 annual passes, and will be staying at the cabins in Ft. Wilderness. Just received our Magic Bands....alas, no luggage tags. Dang!

The official language:

Walt Disney World Resort hotel Guests will receive their items as follows:

  • Guests who have booked and customized their MagicBands 10+ days prior to arrival will receive their luggage tags in their MagicBands box at home.
  • Guests who have booked and customized their MagicBands 6-9 days prior to arrival, and Guests who have not customized their MagicBands will recieve their luggage tags in their MagicBands box at the Resort hotel
  • Guests who have booked a reservation 1-5 days prior to their arrival, and Guests who have opted out of MagicBands will receive luggage tags at the front desk of their Resort hotel.
Note the third option. So they will have the tags at the front desk. It will likely only be the grey one- like they have as Magic Bands.
Although I'm going to be going up there and sweet talking to see if I can get a couple. I'm DVC so we don't get any :(
There needs to be a very important disclaimer added to this, all of the above only applies to Americans. All non-Americans MUST pick them up at their resort regardless of customization. That means picking them up AFTER you've travelled which kind of defeats the purpose of a luggage tag. Which is odd since up until now we were mailed the tags with the Mickey mail from the Canadian distribution center.

Seems like someone at Disney can't think logically about the purpose of a luggage tag. Intentionally or untintentionally this adds to the growing number of ways in which Disney is showing disdain for its international customers.

Now in seriousness

I find it odd that they are being shipped in the MagicBand box. It made more sense the old way to me and worked best for the large number of international guests.

Well, I see the smiley but to be clear, it's the Disney Company that seems to have lost the ability to think through many of its decisions, not just about international visitor issues, but many things and how they are impacting on guest satisfaction. Iger really needs to look at the decision making process in that company and whether his people are or can think through an issue.

Oh, and if I was to be commenting on Americans then the 70% of my family who are Americans would probably let me know about. That is if they could remember I'm Canadian.;)

Magic Bands arrived today in the mail and did not receive any plastic luggage tags. I got the Magical Express sticker tags about a week and a half ago.

I normally get a red band but don't wanna a Minnie luggage tag . So I guess next trip it will be green band , like Goofy just not that style and like the yellow Mickey tag just not a yellow band . Why can't I have my red band with a yellow or green luggage tag ?

I heard you get the tags only if you booked the magical express
That's not true for these luggage tags. I received them and we're not using the magical express. I believe the magical express uses different tags. From the looks of it, to get these you have to book a package and live in the US (according to a previous Canadian poster).

Wow! I got my Magic Bands last week and I didn't make the connection that the luggage tag matched the bands! They do! I got blue, my husband got gray!! LOVE IT!!! 16 days and counting!

I just got off the phone with the Disney people. You have to book a "package" consisting of a room and park tickets in order to receive the luggage tags. Since I made a room only reservation I will not receive a luggage tag. Shame on me for being an annual passholder. :joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:

Didn't see this posted yet. Guests arriving Sept. 29, 2015 and after, will receive a new luggage tag that corresponds with your color of choice for your magic band. The tags will either be in the box with the magic bands shipped to your house or picked up at the front desk when you arrive, depending on when you customized your magic bands.

Just order th yellow band and use your red one. As long as it's under two years old- you can still use your old bands just fine. We all used 4 apiece last trip- changed colors just for fun.

Unless you get over 6-8 or so bands on your account per person, there really aren't ever issues I hear of (I did bring my new band with me to park before i used/tested my old one- just in case)
I got my red band Sept of 2014 do you think it will still be good when I return Sept 2016 . Will I need a new one ? BTW thanks for info

yes and no... yes to the touch modules, and a probably not for the long range things... photopass on rides... the battery inside only powers the longer range antennas.

It will be out of it's projected lifespan by that point. it will still work for tap items but the long range RFID may not function.
