New Hook and Smee heads?

Sorry if this has been discussed before (haven't seen it) but I was looking at some pictures of dream along with Mickey from no more than 2 weeks ago (Here and here for best examples) and the heads of Hook and Smee look a LOT different than they did when I was last in the World (Here Not my pic either.). What I'm wondering is are these new heads for the show (with possible moving mouths to go with the Mickey/Minnie/Goofy/Donald ones) or have they just recieved a more realistic makeover for visits as well?

Those are live actors... and I assume that their heads aren't new and mouths should be able to move :lookaroun

lol makes sense... I assumed Smee had a head (and thus so did hook) since smee still has the cloth arms.

Yeah I saw them in the morning show at MK they look very cool. Like real faces but still very cartoony. Amazing effect!
But the usual Hook with the big head is the one that walks around the park.
I believe the characters with moving heads are only for shows so it matches the audio. That castle show was soooo great, my 4 year old loved it!
He was chanting right along with it to help Mickey defeat the villians "Dreams come true, dreams come true" me and my hubby welled up with tears, it was sooo sweet. Another generation of Disney freaks to come!

As others have said, the Hook & Smee faces you're referring to are used in "Dream Along With Mickey" when Mickey and friends have the animated heads (i.e able to talk/blink).
When Mickey & co aren't animated, are Hook and Smee still face characters?

I believe it's because there isn't currently/won't be a Hook or Smee animated head, and it would look odd if Mickey could talk and Hook couldn't!

However, I don't see how using the tradtional head for meet n greets can last, as surely Disney doesn't want two different versions of the same character in the same park? :veryconfu

The first time that I saw them and there "new" look I heard babies cry. Does Disney really want that to happen? And the meet and greet people are still the old them.

Are you sure? In looking at a few of those pictures from the show, they definitely don't look like real faces. Just curious...

Yes. They are live actors. I am in Entertainment, I can vouch for this.

The new Smee and Hook are face characters. From what I understand they no longer wear the heads, they simply have makeup and latex face extensions to make their faces appear more like the animated characters.

Yes in the show but when they do the meet and greet I saw them wearing the heads not the new look for them both.

Well thats a bit odd but okay. Its probably the same thing as why the Mickey, Minnie, etc...meet and greet characters don't move their mouths either. The new faces and costumes are for more believeability in the shows I guess, not for all around use.:shrug:

Well guys thanks for filling me in. I'm sorta across the continent but thankfully come June I'll be back down for a year and will be able to check things out like this myself.
