Oh yeah..that Haunted Mansion gift shop.

The building is too big.
Messes with the sightlines.
Seems unnecessary to me.
If the Pirates Queue extension rumors are true, this shop will turn out to be a necessary stepping stone. It is a lot bigger than expected, but hopefully part of the reason for it just sticking out is because it is a large structure where there used to be nothing. Over time, we'll probably get used to it being there and something will be done so it won't stick out as much

@mickEblu you inspired me. For the first time in decades, I got Cracker Barrel for breakfast this morning (it helps that there's one maybe ten minutes down the road from where I am). Admittedly not anything super Southernified like fried chicken or biscuits and gravy, but nonetheless.

The Cinnamon Roll French toast was actually pretty good! The bacon was as expected, pretty much the same as any other chain restaurant bacon. The eggs I could have made better at home, and the sausage was the teeny tiny Waffle House-sized version-but it didn't even taste as good as ones from Waffle House would have. Portions were honestly kinda skimpy, very un-Southern of them, but chain restaurant strikes again, I suppose.

So yeah, it's really the decor that makes it special. Perhaps if I got something super Southern I'd feel differently, but eh. I'll leave it to an expert to tell me where I erred and tell us all what we should be ordering when we go there next.

Cinnamon French toast and some of the southern favorites sounds great! Definitely not going there to get there version of the All American Grand Slam haha. I’m going to try it out one of these days. Bummer on the breakfast sausage though. I’m kind of a breakfast sausage connoisseur.

Denny's and the grand slam got me young. To my child mind, why WOULDN'T you want some variation on pancakes/french toast, eggs, and bacon/sausage for breakfast? It must be a superior breakfast food, it has syrup!

We didn't have interesting breakfast foods when I was a child (or if they existed, my parents didn't know about them and/or deliberately steered clear of them), so it's all too tempting to fall back and just get the same old, same old again.

Except for, you know, actually going to Denny's, IHOP, Bob Evans, or Perkins in 2024.

Oh ya I was all about those grand slams and whatever IHOPs version of that was when I was a kid. When I was really young though I would order a grilled cheese AND the chocolate Happy Face pancake off the children’s menu. In my mind it was an entree and dessert. Anyway, if I’m driving 40 minutes to a Cracker Barrel I’m going to try my luck with a Southern Favorite or something that is unique to them amongst other Southern California breakfast chains.

Part of me wonders if it’s also there to make Tiana’s look less like a mountain.

Has anyone noticed this large Neoclassical structure being built? It don’t believe it was in the original concept art.

Now that I’ve seen more video and wider shots/ various angles of the new Magnolia Park I’m less happy with it than before but it’s not awful. Now it just looks more like an entrance Plaza for the NOS train station and less like a “park.”

You have to admit the area is more accessible now than it was before when like 3/4 of the year had up the ropes for the extended HM queue. At least now it can be used for something other than extended queue. So not ideal but at least there is a silver lining to this change.

Agree. A park that can't be used to relax in because it's always full of "temporary" overflow lines isn't as good as a smaller relaxing space next to better themed additional queue areas.

Bonus points for this HM team not adding any cartoony features to the exterior queue like over at MK. Now we just have to hope they didn’t touch the hanging corpse and that they didn’t butcher the hitchhiking ghosts scene.

I think we also have to hope that they did right by the new bride too, no? Weren't there rumors that they were installing an updated version of her, too? I want to say that was the reason for the movement of the Eager Anaconda in HMH's attic this year.

Not that I can imagine her possibly being worse than the most recent version, but anything is possible.

I'm afraid they might have installed one that's a "better effect" but I just wish for the original or the 1980's bride. Slightly jerky, minimally animated figures ARE creepy in and of themselves. So much more unnerving than a sophisticated CG animation or a projected actor. (On same topic, I'm worried about the hitchhiking ghosts.)

I know this seems to be the accepted narrative but as someone who relaxed back there with a mint julep n beignet often I’m here to say that is not true. It would be more accurate to say that the park was glorified stroller parking as that is what it was much more often than temporary overflow. The queue overflow around the fountain didn’t happen often when classic Mansion was running. Maybe just a couple switchbacks running along the HM perimeter at most. So if you were sitting in the back of the park on a bench it was quite pleasant. Speaking of, are they going to add some benches and tables to the area?

As much as I am liking the look of this newly revealed area just outside of the train station, do we think they will be getting any kind of benches around there at the end of it all? Every photo I've seen of the new area makes it look nice but I feel like there's no way to currently just take a moment and relax/enjoy the area without sitting on the ground or on some kind of railing.

It feels like the perfect area to take a quick break in but if standing is the only option I feel like that sort of runs against that idea.

IMO the bride can’t get any worse so I’m not worried about her. Haha

It might not have been actively used where there were guests standing there but the ropes were up most of the year making the fountain and most of the park inaccessible, unless you hopped the ropes.
