2007 - Haunted Mansion Refurbishment - (5/15/07) A new rumor is being spread from the Mansion that there may be some dramatic improvements to the Mansion when it reopens and it may be more scary than ever. Of course, the mansion never really was very scary to begin with... so I’ve got to wonder what they’ve got planned. Of course, I also heard that WDI cooked up some big ideas for the Mansion rehab that ended up being kicked to the curb by the budget minded Disney World accountaneers, so perhaps this leftover echos from those old plans. Otherwise, with the rumors today that the Spaceship Earth rehab may include the addition of current generation lifelike Disney animatronic figures, that certainly would be a major plus to the Haunted Mansion experience. I’d love to see one of the suits of armor that has been motionless for decades suddenly come to life to lunge at your Doombuggie. Now THAT would be scary.

2007/2008 - Spaceship Earth Renovation - (5/15/07) We’ve also heard rumors that the upcoming rehab to the ride will be quite extensive, possibly replacing several of the ride’s animatronic figures with new state of the art Disney animatronics like the ones added to Pirates last year. This in addition of a bevy of all new modern special effects, lighting changes, costume upgrades, as well as the complete overhaul to the final decent portion of the ride.

This sounds great if it's true. I think the addition of the Audio Animatronics would be really cool to see in these older rides.

What do you guys think?:)

Since it is coming from Screamscape, I will take it for what it's worth. I would love to see HM receive the TLC DL's has. It would be even better to take it up a notch and make it better then DL's.

I really cannot wait to see how Spaceship Earth comes out. I love the current ride but am excited to hear about the proposed changes.

I have to say the screamscape has been fairly accurate for the past year. They announced a lot of changes and upgrades that were accurate. But, i will take it what its worth, a rumor. I hope Haunted Masion decides to do the the christmas event that they do at DL and TDL. I would love to see Jack from the Nightmare before christmas.

To keep the originality of the Disneyland attractions, Haunted Mansion Holiday will not, unfortunately, be coming to Disney World. I like the new Leota Ball and the singing Pumpkins, but Disneyland deserves their own special attractions. :)

I like the rumor of the inclusion of state of the art animatronics coming to SSE. The Greek actor used to have some of the most advanced movements of its time (in his wrist), but it was so great that he actually began squirting oil on passing guests, so they had to turn it down a bit.

Siemens doesn't want to completely replace the animatronics. They are actually thinking about making SOME of the figures "hybrids." Examples of hybrid AAs can be found in the American Adventure. Those figures are actually older models with A-100 arms. Siemens is thinking about doing the same on SSE, which will make the figures much more realistic.

Too late. Tokyo Disneyland has already gotten its own Haunted Mansion Holiday. So its not really original to DL anymore.

They're closing the Mansion for a little over three months in the middle of the summer...they'd better be doing more than general maintenance. If SSE can go down for around three months and come up with the promised changes, I don't see why the Mansion can't. (They also changed El Rio to Gran Fiesta in around three months.)

It was already confirmed by an imagineer at about.com that florida's mansion would recieve some changes similar to Disneyland's.

Expect Floating Leota and a completly new attic scene.

WDW shouldn't get the holiday not because Disneyland should have origional things (Subs, Matterhorn, etc), but simply because closing down the attraction for months 1/4 of the year each year to remove and install something that'll only really appeal mostly to locals is a bad idea.

me too! And I'll be able to be one of the first to see them...since I'm going to MK on the 14th for MNSSHP! Let's just hope this refurb dates don't get pushed back any. They really are chancing it by having the date be the 13th anyway to get back in action.
