It's interesting how different folks perceive "thrill". Although I really like all 3 rides, I find The Mummy the most thrilling of the 3 by far. Not even close. I actually don't even consider Forbidden Journey a thrill ride . But I do not like inversions or loops and The Mummy is about as thrilling as I would go when it comes to coasters.
They come in all sizes for sure, but currently there isnt anything for everyone. And a world class dark ride can make everyone ecstatic if its really really good.
If they can't do this then they can still ride Hippogriff. It has a great view of the land.Yeah, I'm always reluctant to use the term "thrill" ride because it's very subjective. What I am really getting at here is a point bhg469 made better than I did at roughly the same time.
I am hoping whatever the new ride is it will provide plenty of thrills for all ages. But seeing as how the other big ride in Hogesmeade is somewhat limited in its appeal, I also hope this one will be something you can enjoy with the kids and grandparents.
Potter is not a series of children's books. They started out that way, but as the story progresses and JK's skills grew, by the 7th book, it's very not a children's book. How “little” are Potter fans though? My son just turned 8 (second grade) and is only now reading the first book.
Yeah thrill ride doesn’t equal steel loop coaster. Dragons challenge was a terrible eyesore for Hogsmeade and needed to go. They need more themed thrill rides like this new coaster should be.

That said, your 8 year old is going to find Forbidden Journey to be an intense ride. When my youngest rode it at the age of 10 she thought it was the scariest ride she had ever ridden and by that point she had been riding Millennium Force and Top Thrill at CP for 4 years.
This coaster won't be wimpy, but it also isn't going to be 10 loops of dueling awesomeness either.
Ummm...There really isn't a family top class that everyone can ride. The rides so far (apart from the kiddie coaster) all have some thrill elements that mean you have family members who skip them. How about one world class attraction that everyone can do ?

I hope he does! I can’t wait to take him to universal now. This past Sunday was his first time ever at an amusement park as 54”!!! He did Firehawk (a flying coaster), Diamondback, Invertigo, all of the major “thrills”. He was in heaven! We’re going to Cedar Point in June so he can hit all of their 54” rides too.
If I can find a good deal at Uni, I’d love to do a quick jaunt down there this summer.. but so far the prices are higher than I’d like.
Not at all!! It’s by far the best value of any pass or membership that we have. But...they make up for that by getting me with their stupid games, blue ice cream, and the Slingshot and SkyFlyer...and worst of all- the stupid lockers.lol. I’m trying to figure out how to go bag free this year, especially with kiddo being 54” now.Not a lot can compare with the value of Kings Island season passes, right?
Why? Why do Universal and their fans think that a fun ride through a themed environment isn't enough? If this ride is another version of 75% sitting and watching a scene and 25% thrills like Gringotts, then I am not on board. If it doesn't incorporate show scenes I cannot get onboard. This has to be something more than a themed coaster.

have you been on that ride? It looks fun.Again, Taron, to me, is a best-case scenario. Like Big Thunder, it's constantly moving and the ride itself is the story. I'm opposed to thrill rides where the characters not on the ride vehicles appear to be having a bigger adventure than the riders in the vehicle.
Nope. Never been to Germany.have you been on that ride? It looks fun.
All of the coaster companies have been doing such great things the past few years.. I would hope that Uni would want something “ground breaking/record holding” etc. The ride doesn’t need to be the most thrilling or scary to pull that off, it just can’t be “all ages”.Nope. Never been to Germany.
The only Intamin Blitz I've ridden is Cheetah Hunt.
Forbidden Journey is a great mix. If this was a mouth breather franchise like Fast and Furious It should be all thrill.. They really messed that one up! And Gringotts is lacking in some physical elements but for what it is, its pretty great. The thing keeping Mine train from being a perfect ride is more show scenes. Why? Looks to be both no? The supports running parallel to the building suggest that a track will be placed there eventually. Now we know it's indoors!
For some reason I was thinking it would be outdoors.
That’s the same station building that has been there since 1999. It’s being reused as the station building for the new coaster. Now we know it's indoors!
