The problem with connecting DAK park to AKL hotel would be the view of the back of Pandora. The rear of the showbuildings have half rockwork on them so it would really break the illusion.
That's nothing some large trees on a brim couldn't hide

I would gladly look at backstage areas to avoid a bus... Remember the old Skyway looked at the unthemed roofs of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland... There was plenty unmagical to see, but it was still lovely...
Besides, the back of Everest is also in plain view, I think they are more concerned about what you see while in the park... not traveling past..
Exactly this.

I will remind people, as well, that the Disneyland Monorail has several backstage views as well. It really isn't as much of a concern as people seem to be making of it.

The proposed pathway (on the first page of this thread) would go right over the backstage area of World Showcase and if you look on Google Maps, the areas behind the France and Morocco buildings certainly aren't the most "magical" things to look at. I'm not sure seeing the back of Pandora would be a deal breaker. (personal opinion only, of course)
Old skyway in MK revealed much that was un-magical I suppose. It was still a fun way to get around the park.

Absolutely brilliant.

I have always bemoaned the bussing system as unimaginative and dull for the passenger. A slap in the face of the Florida Project, which revolved around mass transport solutions. And of turning the blessing of size into a disadvantage, by reducing the world's largest controlled theme park environment into more of the generic central Florida sprawl. A collection of theme parks and motels that make no effort to form a greater coherent whole.

By contrast, skyrides are all the rage. A great alternative to traverse short distances with obstacles, such as rivers, busy traffic, or even Medellin slums. Environmentally friendly, safe. And fun! Fun like ferryboats and monorails! Bravo if this comes to fruition.

Perhaps it will look like the monorails.

Ok this is kind of an amazingly simple yet brilliant idea that's perfectly fitting....and I'm kinda amazed that someone at WDW might actually be thinking about transportation infrastructure. Pretty damn exciting.
They've been thinking about it for decades. It was always accepted the busses were finite.

They've looked at monorail. Personal pods. Boats. Trolley systems. And now this.

If they can negate weather stoppages it's appeal is clear. Relatively simple, relatively cheap and relatively reliable.

This would seem to make more sense, however, an advantage to suspended car gondola systems (modern ones, at least) is that the cars can actually detach and move, in line, to a staging area for loading.

This allows filled cars to "pass" through on the current line, and allows for a more relaxed loading experience without stopping and starting the main system, as older systems required.

It also eases ADA requirements.

I saw a video once of how one of these modern systems work, with an animation of a multiple car loading platform...I will see if I can dig that up.

With this in mind, this choice of platform makes a lot more sense for Disney as opposed to the more "train based" options.

So has this been Greenlit? Like I know Martin said that this is the plan, and I know Dan has proven it's existance with permits but like does this have funding? Like is this actually happening or is this just plans.

I really am excited for this I think this could be very cool and an asset to the transportation system. So I am hoping it has been approved and moves forward soon!

I can not imagine them filing for permits unless it has been.
