And it's not even pretty. Like the Tokyo monorails ...What about the Contemporary Resort? The monorail ACTUALLY GOES INTO THE HOTEL!!! AND people pay a premium to experience this!!

You owe me a new keyboard.Good grief. Thats close enough to smell the burning flesh.
The really voyeuristic view is when the launches creep along the south side of "Shipwreck Isle" and peer into each of the bungalows during the evening when docking at the WL. That might be even less than 50 feet.
Does anyone know if this is legit ?

It might be "bad show," but it isn't really "on stage" now, is it?This monstrosity of gray steel is just about what I expected. I like the idea, I like new transportation options, I even like the choice of system.
... Am I the only person on these boards that think this is bad show?
At around 90 years old I truly doubt that Mickey is making anything other then plans to slip into a coma.Sees some people "making mickey"...(BLASTS HORN!!!!!)
I'm told the Speedway gas station by the Boardwalk will be closed tonight (and possibly tomorrow night). The speculation is that this is to start running gondola cables.

I don't like the "choice" of "theming", or lack thereof. Not saying it's going to ruin someone's vacation (but I bet front desk has to deal with this "issue" at least a few times a year), but it just seems so far below the bar Disney has set for itself. Am I the only person on these boards that think this is bad show?

So you are saying that Walt had no ability to tell the difference between "bad show" or theming and physical necessities, but, you do? Every once in a while should try and incorporate realities with what it takes to create a show.
Not ready for that yet. Has there been any sightings of the giant spools of rope yet?I'm told the Speedway gas station by the Boardwalk will be closed tonight (and possibly tomorrow night). The speculation is that this is to start running gondola cables.

Doppelmayr is currently building this themed gondola for an amusement park in Moscow. So it is possible.
Looks like Disney didn't think this through after all. Also don't forget the fact that most of the resorts have exterior walkways which go right by the room windows. If you have a problem with people looking in or wanting privacy for when you and your partner are "making mickey" then just close your blinds...
Giggity
You're comparing the original skyway built in the 50's to a 2018 Doppelmayr Gondola. Not exactly apples to apples.
I will defer to @Lift Blog post from earlier showing what is possible given some imagination.
Leave it to the ruskys to show Disney how it's done.
"Making Mickey" is now my favorite new Disney euphemisms.Sees some people "making mickey"...(BLASTS HORN!!!!!)
