That's my guess. It doesn't even have to be 'giant.' Those gondolas look like they are two-seaters, four at the most.

Cant they make "multi room" gondolas? Ie, single "hanging" system but grabbing separate individual gondolas for privacy?

Playing devil's advocate, they might not be needed to be sure people run the right path, but they may be that dense so that if someone stops running for some reason they are discouraged from stepping aside into the construction area.
