Theme wise a cake shop does fit better than the ESPN club. But ESPN club always seemed very popular and since it was on the end of the boardwalk it didn’t really clash too much.

What's really missing from this whole area is a casual bar/restaurant you can just walk up to without needing a reservation 30+ days in advance. Yes they have walk-up lists but they're unreliable.

Made that exact comment this trip. With the loss of ESPN club and big river brewing, there's no place at boardwalk to grab simple pub grub food.

Choices will (sometime in 2025?) be 3 higher end restaurants, and 5? counter service places. There's a massive hole in their food offerings.

Either that, or an equivalent of a hotel quick-service food court - Boardwalk, Beach and Yacht Club don't have a lot of quick service choices, and could use the equivalent of Riverside Mill food court, or The Mara, or something like that.
