Where did the idea that it's replacing We Go On come from? The Mickey Monitor said that it would be a holiday tag that would play at the end of the show. I took this to mean that it would be like the July 4th and New Years Eve tags. It didn't say anything about replacing the current ending.

Nobody said that....it is just a guess....I dont think they would add 4 minutes and 800 shells onto the show without cutting back something.....esp since it is not playing during a hard-ticket event.

Well, I definitely like the idea, but please oh please oh please I hope that doesn't mean replacing "We Go On." I love that song and I love that portion of Illuminations. I'll be there in December and was hoping to win the BF over to the Disney side of the force with that show. Who could not love Disney after the "We Go On" portion of the show? Sigh. Guess that means I have to drag him back in February!! :D

The old "Let There Be Peace On Earth" theme was one of the best things about the old Illuminations Holiday show. Glad they're bringing it back. Just wish I could go see it again. Anyone who gets to will really enjoy it.

Is it confirmed that the holiday version will be narrated by Walter Cronkite? If so, that will be incredible! I have never had the pleasure of seeing the holiday version of Illuminations in the past and am looking forward to seeing it during my first Christmas in WDW this year!

I must say that Walter Cronkite's narration of Spaceship Earth was hands-down the best version ever!

Can't wait!! :xmas:

From the Mickey Monitor

IllumiNations gets a new happy holiday ending.

We think the new holiday finale of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth has all the makings of another Yuletide favorite. For the first time in years, there's an extra surprise in store for Guests as IllumiNations brightens up World Showcase with a "holiday tag" at the end featuring a warm rendition of the song, "Let There Be Peace on Earth." The music, along with perfectly choreographed fireworks, left us with a holly jolly feeling in our hearts.

I cannot wait for December 8th!!
Always one of my favorite parts of the old IllumiNations show.

To follow up, I have found out some information that ROE will be shown completely (including We Go On) and then the holiday part will be tagged onto the end.

Can you believe this?.....Maybe WDC is turning a corner....maybe the problem was Pressler, not Eisner....WDC spending a ton of extra money just to make a show "nicer" for the holidays. Cool!

Agree with things to come (Hopefully)

I agree this is a great thing, especially with the apparently extended hours at other times, but Disney has added tags to shows before. If I remember correctly, the 100 YOM end to Fantasy in the Sky took the original finale and just added to it quite a bit. I actually think the nighttime shows are one of the few areas the creative dept. is doing VERY well in. Wish they could get some of that talent into some of the other areas of WDI... :lookaroun

Anyway, since I won't be making it to WDW this holiday season, enjoy, everyone who gets to see this. :xmas: It sounds like it has potential to be really great (and one of the few things that could be on even, but different, plane with the powerful ending to We Go On).

WDI is not in charge of nightime Entertainment. This falls under WDE. Walt Disney Entertainment based here in Orlando. But yes WDI needs creative help none the less.

I stand corrected. I did not know that. I thought it was WDI and WDE merely provided entertainers for these (ala Fantasmic).

Thanks for the info.

Boo, do you have any details on the music or the specifics of the Tag ending here? Is it the same as "We Go On" except a different song?

End date would be Dec. 30th. New Year's Eve has a special show and Jan it returns to normal. At least that's what it has been in the past with Holiday Illuminations. :)
