New effects in The Haunted Mansion

Aren't the Nemo reflections a classic example of peppers ghost?

For the most part yes :wave: but the Nemo effect is a bit different, in the fact they are reflected on to glass boxes in the water ............ I think :lookaroun

EDIT TO ADD: I WOULD, however, take issue with them actually changing the HHG characters. They're iconic. If they change the effect and keep the HHG's... Good deal. If they want to change it to somehow match different characters from the new que or something... Houston, we have a problem.

So the news of them adding hitchhiking pixar characters doesnt appeal to you then? :lookaroun

Personally I like the effects on the video but I guess no way to really tell till I'm there in person, guess I'll have to wait till May..:brick:

My understanding of this project was that this is a temporary measure while they work on the actual figures . . . can anyone confirm or deny?

If that is the case I'd be more accepting of the current effect, I think. It looks interesting enough, and I like the possibilities, but seeing an intricately animated figure would be infinitely more awe-inducing to me personally.

Awesome. So (basically . . .) no worries. I wonder if the figures are receiving general maintenance or if they're being upgraded to produce an effect similar to the new projections.

In all honesty though, for any of us to be making a judgement on this effect based on a grainy 30 second video clip is kinda silly. I think this is one of those "you need to see it in person" sort of things.

I guess I just feel like they look a little to cartoon like. But I guess they do fit the AA's out there now that I think about it, I am still not a fan. But lets see when a better video comes out.

I don't like it. Unlike other recent projection stuff in rides, this just comes off as George Lucas shenanigans.

The characters are reflected directly onto the side of the aquarium; no glass boxes are needed because the aquarium is already made of glass. The only things in the water are Nemo's non-anthromorphic friends.


And back to being on the topic of HM, in the other thread they say that these projections are merely a placeholder for enhanced hitchhiking ghosts. The projections are fine as long as they're temporary. I doubt they would just replace perfectly fine AAs with projections for no real reason.

I'm pretty sure they're getting rid of the ghosts altogether and will be projecting other guests into your doom buggy - kind of like the castle projections.

NEGATIVE, not for a second would they remove the ghosts, they got so much grief for even the thought of getting rid of the tombstones, could you imagine if they got rid of the ghosts, I would predict fans would protest, even perhapse riot if anyone even toyed with the idea of removing the ghosts.
