New Early morning Studios upcharge event

So will this mean rope-droppimg TSMM is no longer worth doing? We were planning to go to DHS first thing a day this is being offered, but maybe we should rethink our AM plans if the rides will already be full when we arrive.

The profanity filter prevents me from expressing what a meager pathetic offering this is for an already half park experience.
On further reflection, it does need some oomph - perhaps adding Anna and Elsa to the Olaf greet for the first hour? Something to add exclusivity beyond just lo crowds.

I really need to be more careful with my jokes.

Yes, for those who paid $212 to have access to the park from 5-midnight when lines are a bit shorter and rides are open (attendance is capped at 28,200). However, for the regular guests who are allowed to explore the architectural elegance of the Disney's Islands of Movie Adventures from 11:30AM-5PM at their leisure for the low price of $108.60 after the Sunrise Surcharge crowd has exited, videos of the event can be seen on the monitors in their room provided they are staying at a Deluxe resort or are in Building 7A of the Coronado Springs resort.

My thoughts exactly. I will leave you the job of posting for me.

Funny. However, my conjecturing about when "Twice the Price" dining (need to replenish the coffers after "free" dining) and the Sunrise Surcharge will take effect didn't make the cut. I do take solace in the fact that someone at Disney sees my sarcasm even if they don't read these boards.

I really should be thankful at this point that the Twice the Price dining to offset "free dining" has never caught on...or I should be thankful that @wdwmagic destroyed that April Fool's thread so many years ago.

Yes it does. The demand of guests and the giving-into by Disney of free dining since 9/11 has contributed to the decline in value & quality of the DDP. We have done the "dining plan" since the mid-80s when it truly was a great value & experience. It's been cheapened and the price has been over-inflated and getting worse for the last 10 years. The cost of food in general at the parks is outrageous as well.

Edit: yes, I understand Disney is a business and being a business is making a profit...
At this point you are essentially just cut and pasting 74's comments trying to further the narrative and mysterious agenda.

Independent thought is one of the few rights you have; exercise it.

Adding a previously unavailable product is not nickel and diming guests.

Charging for items that were at one time included in the price of admission is. (eg if Disney began charging for fastpass).

Why do they keep adding them? You answered your own question...people show that they want them by buying them. It is the same reason Apple puts out a new iPhone every year...people line up with their checkbooks wide open every time they do.

I think a pretty strong argument could be made that they're really just re-selling the parks multiple times a day at this point. If they can re-sell it from 8-9AM and then from 10PM-1AM then there's really no reason that they couldn't re-sell the whole morning from 9-noon and then sell the evening from 8PM-midnight. Which they could, of course, it's their property.

If you were to visit one day and pay buy a normal ticket then you'd be getting the noon-8PM slot in this scenario. It'd be what you bought and you weren't entitled to any more and all of the same arguments could apply with, "You don't have to buy the morning or evening package!"

Really, though, they're still just looking for ways to re-sell the same property multiple times a day, and that's off putting. It's not about making the product bigger and better but just about getting you through the turnstiles (figuratively speaking) a few times more each day.

For me, I find it, and their other recent changes, very off-putting to where I'm just spending my money elsewhere.

I should also note that based on my years of experience at the ABC Commisary, the phrase "all you care to enjoy" with regards to food at that location may render the whole event a logical contradiction. To be fair, never having experienced breakfast offerings at this location (main culinary pluses - air conditioning and a bevy of cushy sitting) I can't discount the possibility that Mickey waffles rivaling the food enjoyed by the affluent and eminent may be available. If they have an all you can eat bacon bin at the end of the buffet line (never fill a breakfast plate too soon, bacon may be around the corner), I may be able to extract $43.56 of value from this event.

Alabama! A once-in-a-lifetime vacation! (pretty sure it was from an earlier thread on this forum)

I see where you are coming from, but I see it more as selling convenience.

If the kids want to get pictures with some of the characters, take a few spins on TSMM (something that almost can't be done during regular park hours) and have a few trips on ST, someone can drop an extra $XXX, do all that stuff and then stop for breakfast when people start coming into the park and not have to worry about dealing with the crowds for all that stuff later.

I did the same thing many times with the Fireworks desert parties. Dropping $100 and stuffing myself with sugar before having a great view of the fireworks was much more preferable than staking out and defending a spot an hour in advance only to have some NBA player with a kid on his shoulders stand right in front of me 5 minutes before the fireworks start.

A noon time break is usually for the best anyway. I can't wait until the TSMM becomes the centerpiece of Midday Madness where everyone who has plunked down $79 for the 10:30-2PM time slot can ride rides and enjoy an all you can eat cold cut buffet at Sci-Fi while the commoners are told to return their 79F rooms (below 80 is deemed acceptable for WDW AC as of 10/15/2016) to relax and chill before the 2:01-5:59, general public window is open.

To be fair, I arrived at MK in May at 8:50 (9 am open) on a day with one of these events and Mine Train had a 70-min wait--longer than any other mornings at 9. It's easy enough for me to just avoid those mornings, but it did impact us. Maybe it was just a bad morning though--didn't care to test the hypothesis again haha

This is my concern. I specifically planned my days to avoid the EE park. Now it ends up my MK and DHS days fall on early morning magic days. So 40% of my park days will now have people in line before I arrive. And it's too late the make changes because you have to book FP+ and ADRs so far in advance without having all the information available to you.
