For some reason, I would equate a male of this breed with the Movie The Lion King.

I would name a male Rafiki, or Mufasa or even Zasu
All these names are easy on the lips and are fun names and are Disney Themed

Not sure what I would name a female though..maybe something from a differant Disney film.

I've never heard of an American Eskimo before but I immediately imagined a dog like a husky! Have you thought of all of the great Disney dog names? I just found these on the net: -

  • Pluto
  • Max
  • Pongo (101 Dalmations)
  • Perdita (101 Dalmations)
  • Patch (101 Dalmations)
  • Lucky (101 Dalmations)
  • Rolly (101 Dalmations)
  • Freckles (101 Dalmations)
  • Lady (Lady and the Tramp)
  • Tramp (Lady and the Tramp)
  • Jock (Lady and the Tramp)
  • Trusty (Lady and the Tramp)
  • Peg (Lady and the Tramp)
  • Scamp (Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure)
  • Dodger (Oliver and Company)
  • Tito (Oliver and Company)
  • Einstein (Oliver and Company)
  • Rita (Oliver and Company)
  • Frankie (Oliver and Company)
  • Copper (The Fox and the Hound)
  • Chief (The Fox and the Hound)
  • Lafayette (The Aristocats)
  • Napoleon (The Aristocats)
  • Nana (Peter Pan)
  • Bruno (Cinderella)
  • Max (The Little Mermaid)
  • Little Brother (Mulan)
  • Percy (Pocahantas)
  • Doctor Doppler (Treasure Planet)
  • The Footstool (Beauty and the Beast)
  • Toby (The Great Mouse Detective)
I'm liking Tito from Oliver personally! Might have to have a word with my DH about naming our next one that!

We also have an American Eskimo. They are a great breed. I also had one when I was growing up. Anyway, we registered ours as Jasmine Kissed Me, because my son was so excited the first time Jasmine kissed him. We call her Jasmine or Jazzy for short.

Another idea would be Yeti.

Quazzy as in Quasimodo. Think thats how you spell it.

Or Simba. Simba means somehting in swahili. Cant remeber what though.

simba means lion in swahili ( i know, so creative)
and rafiki actually means friend! cool huh?

you know, i just realized that the only time my year and a half of college swahili classes comes in handy is on this boards.

Our next dog will be named Epcot. It's not my favorite park--I just thought it would be neat.

BTW I hope it's a L O N G time before we do that. We got a little Shih Tzu that better be with us for years and years.

Some of my faves...

Figment, Kuzco, Stitch, Megara (for a girl), Belle, Kronk....it all depends on the personality & gender of the dog! I picked Simba for my cat because he bounced off walls as a kitten & was really hyper. :)

I am so jealous, I want an American Eskimo Toy, but I'm waiting till I get through Grad School to get one. Congrats on the new addition to your family! I was trying to think of a name that goes well with a cute A.E.'s but I know when I name a new pet, I wait till I see how he/she behaves... before deciding a naming. Good luck with finding the perfect name!

I used to have a little gray rabbit named Thumper, he actually had the light gray under his chin/ across his chest and did the thumping thing with his back foot when he was happy, so the name was fitting.
