With "Year of a Million Dreams" wrapping up it's 2nd year this year, has anyone heard anything on what the new theme will be for '09? I can't see them extending it for a 3rd year.

But its the Wishes, Dreams & Magic, that makes it different from everywhere else.
Disney will have to get real creative coming up with an original theme since there will be no birthdays or anniversaries to celebrate.

I think what our esteemed friend is trying to imply is that the actual "magic" that us fans enjoy is something a lot deeper than the branding that some office dept. cooked up somewhere. It has to do with spending quality time with loved ones in a place that is truly fun and unique - a total break from the real world, if only for a little while. I love that kind of magic, but I don't particularly care for Magic(tm)(c)(r)

Dreams, Magic and Wishes are great, but they shouldn't be a gimmick- they're what define Disney. It's like your local Walmart putting a promotion for the "Year of Shopping". :shrug:

But they do. Just because the promotion isn't for a year doesn't make it any different.

Good point, especially since Disney will be introducing it's FIRST Black princess in 2009. I'm so excited about that. They just might launch a new princess campaign or something...

I think that's a very good guess! They could do some creative things with that. Or maybe something w/Fairies because of the new movie coming out. I always love to see what Disney comes up with.

I'd like there to be A Year of No Gimmicky Celebrations as well. What ever happend to the magic of Disney being enough to go to Disney? Lets be honest, do one of these "year long celebrations" really influence people to come to the parks? Its not like somebody says, "I don't like this year long celebration. Let's wait for the next one, and then we'll go to Disney." Disney did not have these year long things decades ago, and they don't need them now. The magic of Disney is what makes people come to Disney, not a year long celebration. Just having one year without any type of promotional celebration would be my "dream come true."
