New Disney Parks Blog

Interesting. I just registered and posted that Mr. Smith's opening statement had a glaring error in it. Mr. Smith, Social Media Director, Disney Parks said that "Walt Disney listened as he wandered the parks. We'll listen here."

My post was reminding him that Walt couldn't have listened as he wandered the "parks", since Walt died in 1966 and the only park he ever saw or walked through was Disneyland. The accurate statement would have read "Walt Disney listened as he wandered Disneyland. We'll listen here."

My comment is awaiting moderation there on Disney's slick new official blog. Let's see if it makes it through. Although I don't have high hopes for this blog if it's being run by corporate drones who don't even know that Walt only walked through one park in his life. Or worse, that they think we don't know that.

I noticed that too.

I doubt they'll "listen" but it'd be cool if they did.

I also like that the majority of the Ghost Galaxy comments are calling for it to come to WDW.

They do have some great video up of Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy. Although it's lit to show the riders in the cars so well that you can see the tracks and supports, which you can never see in real life or in amateur YouTube videos. But some of the ghost effects show up pretty well in the video.

And it's funny how the comments are running strongly in the "Bring this to Disney World!" camp. Clearly those people don't know they are supposed to appreciate and value WDW's Space Mountain in its circa 1975 form only.

So, it's official. The new Disney Blog doesn't like friendly correction, especially of Thomas Smith as the Social Media Director for Disney Parks.

My comment that Mr. Smith's statement "Walt Disney listened as he wandered the parks. We’ll listen here." was inaccurate as Walt passed away five years before a second park was built and that he only wandered Disneyland, and that blog comment was removed. For the record my comment was polite and profesional, just a friendly reminder that Walt never had a chance to wander "parks", and I thanked him for listening. But it likely showed this Disney Parks blog wasn't created by people who know their history very well, or who don't expect their fans to know their history either.

A second follow up blog comment of mine that followed the script set by all the other folks there gushing about how great this blog was and how super-fabulous Disney Parks are was posted within a minute with no problem. :ROFLOL:

So just post gushing adoration and comments validating how super-fabulous you think Disney Parks are, and you'll be fine on that new blog.

Ghost Galaxy wouldnt be as good in florida because the florida space mountain does not have onboard audio nor does it have modern projection equipment.

Well' the title of the blog is "Disney Parks" so as far as they are concerned the Parks are interchangeable and no different so they treat them as such. I think this is the key phrase

"Beginning today, we’re offering the latest, official information about our destinations as well as some exclusive behind-the-scenes looks at what makes Disney Parks the most magical place on earth."

See' they are just "Disney Parks" not individual entities. Now if they wrote the Happiest Places on Earth it would make a bit more sense but this is an example of the "One Disney" Branding Jay Rasulo loves so much.

I tried it and got posted. I asked how many parks and which parks were considered (maybe the ones he took kids to). Don't know if I'll get a response.

This is simply Disney's answer to take fans away from sites such as this one -- places where Disney might actually be taken to task and criticized -- and make everything a world of pixie dusted perfection.

Just the words 'social media' hit me like 'homeland security' ... as in we'll control the message and we'll let you have your say, provided it follows our company line.

They'd never 'allow' a post by someone like me to make it through.

To all the fans who enjoy it, great.

I'll stick to places like LaughingPlace.com (which strangely has had its boards down since first thing this morning) and this MAGICAL realm. If I want the company line, then I'll check out a press release.

I don't need Disney to control my fan discussions.

Oh, and I doubt Ghost Galaxy would ever make it to Orlando. First, you'd have the BS excuse about 'we can't have one of our most popular attractions closed for two weeks to install it' ... then, you'd have the small costs inherent in bringing the overlay. Finally, you'd also have all the folks who believe everything at WDW has to be acceptable for 6-year-olds.

Of course, that group would be horrified if they had the DLP version of SW instead of the neutered version we have at MK too.
