New Disney Bus Paint Scheme

Wow can you say ugly, thank goodness wdw didn't do busses like tokyo

I think the TDL buses are freakin awesome and cool looking. Only thing I don't really care for are the Mickey's on the windows. That's the beauty of this site though, we can all express/have different opinions here as opposed to DIS or the Parks blog.

do you want your own amusement parks too? just for you? you must have not spent much time on a real bus...

Son, you'd do wise to leave the personal attacks at the door.

To address your points:

1 - No, I dont want my own amusement parks. I want my own theme parks. I will start by putting my portrait overtop a fireplace in the french village.

2 - No, an empty amusement park is a very creepy place and brings in no money. 20-30,000 people are a comfortable guest level.

3 - I've spent plenty of time on buses as well Disney Buses. They're slow and inconvenient for my uses. However If i was at a Deluxe resort paying $500 a night, I should get faster bus service than those paying $100 a night. I wouldn't want to wait 20 minutes for a bus, I want to get to the parks NOW because frankly, why else would I spend $500/night on a room if it weren't for the perks.

I completely understand that each individual resort has to pay for bus service out of its own budget but one would think that the high-end resorts would have better bus service simply because their guests are paying out the nose to stay there. That is not an unrealistic concept.

I have always liked the old white, red and purple design, but felt like it encroached on its surroundings. The buses stole the show and took away from the meticulously themed surroundings at the bus stops (yes, to me the bus stops are still well-themed). The new, more modern and sleek design looks to not only be safer due to the reflective vinyl panels, but also less jarring to the eye. Imagine sitting at a peaceful, quiet bus stop at Saratoga Springs with the sound of the pond fountains and peaceful music, and suddenly a giant white and purple thing drives up. Then imagine the same situation with the newer, "blander" design. I like the latter situation better.

Yes, but in WDW things work a little differently. The reason why the Value resorts have far better bus service is, without a rental car, guests have no way of getting to any of the parks. None are within walking distance or have alternative forms of transportation (Monorail, Boat) to get to any of them. Since Disney does not want guests to have rental cars in the first place (DME), they pay for the frequent buses.

At most (but not all, poor Animal Kingdom Lodge) Deluxe resorts, there are other ways of getting to one or two of the parks, so the concern of guests not being able to reach them (and their cash regiesters) is less, despite the much higher rate you pay.

Of course your points are no less valid, but there is some reason why the mouse thinks this way, and I'm guessing this is it.

Then riddle me this: If transportation sucks for deluxe guests - between the buses and the constant failings of the monorail - what on earth is my incentive to shell out more money and stay there?

But your logic then would really be 'well connected resorts vs poorly connected resorts' - not value vs deluxe. PhotoDave's point is AKL is a poorly connected resort (like your Values in your example) yet still gets inferior bus service. It's a double slap in the face... pay more AND still get worse service.

I think the reason the Values see so many more buses is simply they are so freaking big. They need a ton more buses. But bus sharing for deluxes is just bad. Especially for something like AKL which already suffers from being out in the freaking boonies - Disney should be especially sensitive to transportation for it given it's location.

I know for me, I don't consider staying there mostly due to its location relative to the rest of the property.

The big problem I see is that all colors fade in the bright Florida sun. Some fade more than others. Red is the worst because it fades more quickly than most other colors and when it fades, it turns pink. We all know that the buses will not be waxed to prevent premature fading. Oh well.

That's an increasingly good question, especially when even the values get in-room fridges and free wi-fi, and the price gap between categories is ever increasing. Is a Polynesian room really 4x better than one at the Pop? I guess Disney figures the amenities and quality of the hotel itself justify the price (even if they don't really).

Which was my point and why I brought up AKL, as the exception to the rule. Even SSR with its remote location is still close to DTD. I completely get why someone would feel gipped at paying five star prices for one star transportation service, I was merely trying to understand Disney's perspective.

I know for me, I don't consider staying there mostly due to its location relative to the rest of the property.

Same for me.

I still find it amazing that a university can have a fleet of buses with a more creative paint job than Disney.

I'm not sure why Disney has not figured out how to make it's bus management system work. It seems a hundred times worse than the old fixed system. My last time on property I was at Coronado Springs. I remember seeing three Magic Kingdom buses show up in a ten minute period. Two of them were only a minute apart. I thought the new system was suppose to stop that from happening. It took 25 minutes for an Animal Kingdom to show up. (Yes, I did ask the second MK bus if it was MK to make sure the marquee was not wrong)

Is the Epcot stand for Hollywood Studios still out in the middle of the charter bus lot past quite a few empty stands under the canopies?

The new design is great! Sleak, classy, and timeless. The new bus driver costumes also compliment this design nicely. The old design was just plain white with the old logo stamped on. That logo was very 90's.
