New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I tend to believe that the number of people who will abuse the system using that information is less than the number who would be helped. That's just my personal opinion.
I understand your thoughts however if you have an issue you know how it effects you. Write everything down before you call so you are less likely to forget what you wanted to say. The more we advertise the more the possibility is out there. I am not talking about generalizations I am talking about specifics.

I agree. I have to question people going to Florida if you have 'heat intolerance'. These are the sort of requests that have probably ruined it for others who truly meet for DAS (children and young people with Autism).
No, actually you don't have to. Every person with a disability - or caregiver for those that legitimately cannot make the decision on their own - have the right to risk assess and determine what they are comfortable with doing. And if they believe, with accommodations, they can visit Florida - they absolutely have the right to do so. They are not required to remain where nondisabled people feel is "safe" for them. It's not your, or any other person's place, to question that.

Exactly! 💯 The follow up questions are important and people need to stop advertising what was asked and the answer to those questions!
So the liars and cheats are still gonna lie and cheat lmao. As i have stated countless times… this will solve nothing and only hurt people who truly needed it… hope everyone who were basically judging those who needed it for whatever reason are happy now witnessing the frauds continue to be frauds and wait times will not budge and noone wins except Disney by selling more Genie+ and ILL’s….

I don’t understand in what possible way that can be extortion. That kind of hyperbole does not help further discussion.
I think the word is used properly, see definitions 1 and 3 ;)

I'm in one of the two roles that is considered the "most accommodating" for Cast Members with disabilities.
I'm guessing Customer Relations and Ticket Sales. Am I close?

ETA: I see you work outside -- seems like that's not very accommodating for your heat tolerance issue.

I’ve already seen posts on facebook of people being denied all of a sudden claiming that they are neurodivergent. Looking for an appeals process. Maybe they are. But it’s weird how the tunes are changing.

Agreed. This change is to stop many of the honest folks who legitimately needed DAS and move them to Genie+ and ILL.

I think it’s only a money grab in the sense that it’s a roundabout attempt to make touring for everybody more pleasant (happy guests = money) and make Genie+ a more appealing product across the board to encourage sales of it and increase guest satisfaction when it comes to the purchase of it. And I don’t know that I’d really frame that as a money grab, more like a decision motivated by money.

I don’t think it’s a money grab in the way it has been framed throughout these conversation, that Disney is trying to push former DAS users to buy Genie+.
I'm sure Disney is thinking that it's a lucky coincidence that those who no longer qualify end up with G+.

Just let your significant other try on the next call using other ailments …

Well, there is no choice for these folks right?

They CANT use standby, the next best thing is to pay the price,

Its no coincidence.

Yes, everyone has the choice to simply not go to the parks too..

Personally not losing sleep either way. Lucky my window opened last Thursday and i will not need to deal with this again for some time but i found it quite comical people actually felt this was gonna solve so many problems…
We don't know the effects on the standby or LL yet and won't know for ~30 days.

The thing is if less people are using DAS, that ride capacity either goes to standby (line moves quicker/shorter line), LL (more slots available, more likely to get a high demand attraction), or some combination of the two.

If DAS numbers do not drop, it won't have any affect.

Although, if people did not register in advance, planning to just ask guest services when they arrived, we will start seeing those people enter the new system, directed to online where they are approved/denied today. June will be when the effect is most clear, but it should start trickling in... especially the locals not used to doing things in advance, and not actively following this on Disney social media.
