Oh I wasn’t saying it’s wrong…. I don’t think it’s a “line skip” either. i didn’t think anyone would think it was! Haha
Thank you for clarifying.
I am not saying you need to know this but...
I guess I felt this was a good way to express that a disability effects more than just getting on a ride, there are daily struggles.
I think people could think of it this way, just because someone has DAS doesn't always mean they are able to do more. If you need a wheelchair to ride, you are waiting extra for that wheelchair accessible car/boat/seat to be available, a lot of times you are waiting for multiple buses, it takes longer to do normal daily activities (just using the restroom almost always involves a wait to use the companion restroom or walking to First Aide) and there are things that you are unable to do at all (if you are not ambulatory you cannot ride Peter Pan, People mover, climb Swiss Family Tree house, or go on Tom Sawyer Island) add to that someone wheelchair reliant that also has 'autism or similar' sorry I have been trying not to get specific here but... We deal with this and trying to give this individual access to what others enjoy so they have as much of a 'normal' life as possible.
Again this comment was just an opening, not meant to say you don't understand just needed to get it out there.

I think everyone is going to be very disappointed when this rolls out, the former DAS users are now going to struggle a bit more to enjoy the parks and the standby guests are going to be disappointed when they realize average waits only go down a couple minutes.

This isn’t the answer to long lines, it’s just another scheme to avoid the elephant in the room, not enough ride capacity.

55 minute standby waits are better than 60 but is that really going to make a difference in guests perception of the parks?

Reminds me of the “get rid of FP to fix it” arguments back in the day, everyone claimed getting rid of FP would speed up the standby queue and then in 2020 (with no FP and reduced attendance) the lines were just as slow as before. This problem can’t be fixed with line schemes, it needs shovels and ladders.

We went to Disney the fall when there wasn’t a FP system and it was amazing. The lines definitely moved a lot more constantly than they have at any other period in recent history.

We specifically planned the trip to take advantage of no fast passes.

I believe this is the crux of the whole issue here…
Could be a vicious cycle too, where borderline cases struggle much harder using Genie+ than DAS. They may not mind paying, or not need high number of attractions to be satisfied, just Genie+ functions nowhere near as well as DAS. Many people shared how FP+ helped them meet their own needs. Without that, the choice became never doing certain rides, or paying for Genie+ but still not workable for their situation like FP+ was, or rely on DAS. I think the situation keeps compounding. Genie+ and DAS are making the park experience harder and pushing more people to seek assistance for issues they used to manage well enough during FP+. Rinse and repeat, keeps compounding as the seasons and years tick by.

I have been in DAS groups and always had to tap in and after the DAS holder which was blue and then everybody following turned green, but everybody had to tap in.. so I'm not sure that is totally accurate

Len was told by a reliable source that Genie+ holds about 300 slots per hour. After deducting the 300 from how many were counted accessing the LL within 1 hour, the result was roughtly 70% non-Genie+ using the Lightening Lane.

You mean the time with plastic hanging everywhere and mandatory face coverings outside and at restaurants?

Well…you know that prebooking - at a much higher price - is gonna drop soon

Disney will never come out and say, "Well if you don't like the DAS accommodation, buy Genie+." because of ADA although I believe it's their intention.
It depends on whether or not the accommodation they offer is a reasonable one. For example, if they offer wheelchair access to the standby lane with a good return to line system and the disabled person does not want to deal with the wait time or leaving and returning, Disney would be fine in telling them to buy Genie+.

When we went they just took down the mandates for the outdoor coverings but if the queue went inside you did have to put the masks on.

We just bought a couple of lanyards you could wear that connected to the masks and had them around our necks.

It was well worth it to breeze through the queues.

The point is the numbers were still way down…so we can’t translate that to now

I'd like to know how many of the very popular roller coasters, action rides, DAS users ride. As a DAS holder, I can say that many of the thrill rides are a definite no go for me. Wondering if this is the same for others with DAS???

That’s a good point. In the GAC lawsuit Disney mentioned midway mania being so high. Wow… imagine that Sherlock. A park that at that time had literally 1 family / kid friendly and fully accessible ride had a lot of GAC users.

It doesn’t have much more now…with higher attendance…
And we can go ahead and reset the board again
