This one always bugs me - the kids weren't handing trophies to themselves. Lazy parents who didn't want to deal with their kid being upset about not having a trophy invented that so they didn't have to parent.
And eventually feeling to be entitled to get the gold cup or ribbon for just showing up but I agree with your points.

But if there is a growing sense of entitlement amongst the average American front line service then Disney needs to react to that, and that is what they have done
It will not satisfy them. Now that "Fight for Fifteen" has been succumbed to, "Strive for Twenty Five" is not far away.

Well look at that, there is a Strive for $25 Facebook page.... started in 2011

Some are in complete denial.
Oh I am? I got them, 45 years ago when I was in U6 soccer and teeball. And of course, you can look in the archives of newspapers (again, unless you are over 100 years old):

"The first print citation for “participation trophy” that I found in newspaper databases is from the Feb. 8, 1922, edition of the Evening Independent of Massillon, Ohio.
Headline: “Many Trophies for Tossers in State Tourney.”

'Trophies galore will be offered for the second annual Ohio State invitation high school basketball tournament,” the paper reported. “Members of the victorious outfits will be given individual trophies. A participation trophy also will be given each athlete playing in the series.'"

So I'm in denial? Again, since the 1920s these have been handed out.

What’s the alternative, keep wages the same as they were in 1971?

Anyway I’m not against paying lowly paid, front line workers more.

Treat the low wage entry level position as a place to gain experience and develop a skill set, then find a higher paid position and repeat the experience/skill set cycle.

Entry level positions are a stop on life's journey, not the destination.

Some that feel entitled demand higher pay, break rules and want to remain in the same role. This does not described all that desire to be in the same role BTW.

TSA gets federal benefits/pension, so they get some additional perks there.
It all adds up to a win for staff/ cast. Federal staff get a pension, cast get free entry to parks, discounts to dining , resorts, DCL and passes to parks for friends and family. My friend is a retired NYC cop, collecting his pension , retired to FL and now works as a security host at DHS.

It’s not always that clear cut and I think you know that too, I’m not here to judge people’s career choices. The facts are Disney could not employ enough people with their wages and past dress code. Hence the change.

Yeah that sounds like a pretty sweet gig. I was more just bringing it up because if I had to choose, I would probably pick TSA because you get additional financial perks. I’m not the type of person that would but a lot of value on free park admission/discounts if I can make some extra money and use it elsewhere as well.

Well it took more than 2 posts but my prediction was accurate! We have arrived! Haha
It's true..

My entry level job was as a ski lift operator. It was great fun and paid for crap. Then one day as I am watching customers unload like cans off a conveyor belt, my epiphany rang out, "This job sucks and I will not amount to anything if I stay here... gotta get off my ."

Mentality of entitled
Break rules
Demand higher pay
It amazes me of some kids now being awarded " participation trophies ". That did not exist in my time as a kid.
