New Center Stage at Disney's Hollywood Studios

You're attitude is really unnecessary. People are complaining because TDO should have taken this as an opportunity to build a permanent stage that would be a lot less intrusive than the horrible temporary stage that they continue to put up. We are all very smart and well aware that some kind of stage would be back. We just assumed or hoped that it wouldn't be the ugly temporary event stage.
there is no such thing as an unobtrusive stage. they need a covered stage there, so they have one. they need lighting sound and a jumbotron, Check. NONE of these things would be retractable--the stage would weigh as much as a 747. retractable stage-- pipe dream. If walt was here, possibly. no need for the expense of that when it would likely cost as much as a whole attraction elsewhere.

They could a permanent stage in the fashion of the castle forecourt stage. All of the lighting and sound equipment is hidden or retractable there. They could probably come up with some system to have a retractable screen too. They also probably wouldn't need the roof since they hang the lights and effects in other ways. A permanent less obtrusive stage is barely an impossible thing to do. It would not cost about the same as an attraction at all.

No one is asking for a retractable stage. Just one that looks nice.

The current generation of Disney Parks is addicted to putting on "the show", and not in Walt's sense of the word. Walt wanted everything to be the stage. We walked through and became part of the bigger show. This generation sees it as a stage event, and tosses Walt's visions to the side.

Why can't we have his version, and their version? Please don't say it's impossible. Disney is all about developing ways to make the impossible seem possible. A beautiful stage, raised lighting, a jumbo screen that can fold down out of sight. It's all very possible.

I saw it last week (the stage) its even bigger than the previous one.. Not sure why they need a stage that is 40 foot tall! I can honestly say, it looks awful, because it cuts have of the theatre off.

We all agree it does not look good. We all agree it cold be done differently but we are all also playing armchair quarterback. Did the decision to bring down the hat happen sooner? Was this event already planned and y said hey let's go with it as normal this year.

We all agree though the stage is part of this event it draws a Ton of people to park the next few weeks. So as an entertainment value the stage is necessary and will be a bigger plus for those attending this event then a negstive.

the stage is the SAME stage as last year, and the year before, and the year before...

If anyone whines about the stage being up during SWW that it blocks the view, they need punched. It's been like that for years- why anyone would think differently this year is no ones fault but their own for lack of planning.
Anyone whining about a stage during frozen should know that they did the exact thing again, last year. While they aren't near to blame because it could have been a "one year" thing- there's a little trick about frozen stuff.
Gonna let you in on a secret Goofy- if you don't like frozen stuff- you don't have to watch it! Crazy, right? In fact, now that there are two parades in addition to the fireworks, you have double the opportunity to skip it and ride whatever rides you want (save TSMM) with absolutely no waits! It's great. In addition, there is no wait at all for the Fantasmic! Late show.
And for those that do (or kids) like frozen, they have the option to have another event or two at the desolate park known as DHS.

But, of course, I must have forgotten that you were tied down to the side of Hollywood boulevard being stuck to stare at the stage and all things Frozen.

Someone pee in your cheerios this morning? Why did you take this so personally? Wait.... don't answer that. I don't really care that much.

I don't take it personally- it's just an invalid point. It's been the exact same thing for years and now all of a sudden we are supposed to whine like its new?
It's the equivalent of going to Disney world in August and whining that it's hot. Some posts deserve to be called out for being ludicrous.
Opinions are not invalid. They are opinions. Your argument that an opinion can be invalid is invalid.

The complaint this time around is that Disney completely renovated the central hub of the park and then plopped the same old hideous stage down on top of it. That would be like demoing your kitchen, applying some new paint, and placing the same 1970s cabinets, countertop, and appliances back in place. What a waste. Maybe they'll put some new cabinets in next year when they find some money.

That would be only the same of the hat was put back in place since that was the cabinets.

You're right. Just fixed it.

Perfect. For the record, I frequently find the incessant whining around here to be obnoxious, too. I just happen to also find the stage hideous. Does it make it alright if I've complained about the stage since the first time I saw it? No other stage Disney builds (at least that I can think of) is so big, up for so long, and blocking a major park icon. It leaves me dumbfounded. Imagine if the stage in front of Cinderella Castle had a similar structure. I'm sure someone can Photoshop something together.

We agree with you... we would all be up in arms if it was in MK. Personally I don't feel a huge stage for temp events at this park that has 4 rides is a big deal. As it is just a use to keep people in this park for these special events.

If the hat did not come down would you be happy the stage was blocking the ugly hat?

I doubt many people planned trips to see the hat gone.
I was not certain if I would go to WDW this year or not and then along came the hat destruction. I made a trip down there while it was being dismantled just to be witness to it. Some of us really need a life!:joyfull:

Well, we still have the wand in pics for Epcot/SSE news. And it's the lousy "Epcot" version, not the decent "2000" version. I'm thinking Steve was/is a secret fan of the wand, hence the unchanging picture. But he can't come out and admit it because there would probably be a revolt against him. :D
This is a fine example of how each of us has our own perspective on how things look. I never really had a problem with the wand. I thought it was bright and fun looking and added a much needed sense of whimsy to an otherwise lack luster park. (Don't take that wrong, Epcot is my favorite park. It just takes itself a little to seriously.) An additional plus was that it firmly established Epcot as part of the Disney Family. If that isn't enough, when it read 2000 I thought that was the most cheesy, dimensionally diminutive thing I ever saw. The numbers were way to small and skinny to reflect the celebration that it was supposedly highlighting. The word Epcot looked so much more in proportion. However, I did understand why it was being taken down, even though I really thought that it was a reactionary problem. It looks nice now... It looked fine then.

I agree with this statement. Most people will not though.
