New Attraction-Specific Merchandise--Maelstrom T-Shirt

I remember back in the 90s I had a Legend of the Lion King t-shirt (remember that show?) and one of the original Tower of Terror t-shirts. While not as subtle as some people are describing, they were tastefully done and more in line with what they're offering now. In terms of design they were probably similar to the kind of pop culture tees you'd find at a store like Hot Topic or Kohl's, except they generally had the ride logo.

The Legend of the Lion King featured an abstract African-themed spiral design with drawings representing the characters and the show name in small print + Walt Disney World at the center. The shirt itself was tan in color.

The Tower of Terror shirt was a dark burgundy color featured Mickey from behind standing in front of an opening elevator door. It said Tower of Terror and the back of the shirt had some kind of clever line I can't remember.

I have three Disney t-shirts:

Jungle River
Yellow Mr. Toad
Animal Kingdom Opening Day

I would have bought the retro EPCOT Center shirt that had all the old logos on it, but the logos themselves are a sticky/plastic substance that seems it would not hold up in a washing machine.

Something using the old logos would work well. I wouldn't even have it say EPCOT Center or the names of the attractions, just the logos.

I've got a Rock Band t-shirt that uses similar material for the logo and such. I've had the shirt for a year and it's held up quite nicely considering it's part of my regular rotation.

I had the same shirt. I'm pretty sure it said something like "I suggest you take the stairs"

The Maelstrom shirt has been available since at least September.
Wonder how it's selling....

In related notes, I finally got me a Jungle River shirt in AL yesterday.
Also...Emporium is selling t-shirts for "Time Travelers." (Who can guess what I mean by that?)

SSE? I'm lost...

 Get your 2010 shirt quickly before supplies run out!

I have an Everest tee purchased when the ride was in soft opening. It is pretty subtle and is good for outdoor activity. The last time I was there, this shirt was still being sold - it plays off the expedition company back story, so I like that.

If I were to buy a shirt from Tower of Terror, I'd like it to be a Hollywood Tower Hotel type design - like something you'd purchase from the hotel clothing shop of a 5 star hotel.

The Maelstrom shirt looks good enough. I'm not a big enough fan of that attraction to shell out for a shirt, but the $25 price is less than I saw a series of "Life is Good" tee shirts selling at a major sporting goods store last week. That just means they are BOTH over priced!

$25 really isn't much for a t-shirt anymore (at least one with any sort of design on it.) I would say $20 is the low end and $30 is the high end....where in WDW can you find a t-shirt for less than $19.99? Not sure they exist...depending on the design, I'll almost always pay $20, sometimes I'll pay $25 and rarely do I pay $30. I have a feeling I paid $30 for my Electric Mayhem shirt, though I did debate it for a bit.

That being said, I won't buy this one but only because I'm not a fan of Malestrom. I do like the design/style, though. I wish Mouse Gears would just carry the retro shirts in large....seriously, they never have them in stock when I'm there. Large is a fairly common size, so carry more of them! in October when I was there, I think it was only like smalls and XXLs.

I like the Hollywood Tower Hotel logo, They sell bathrobes and towels, but not hand towels. I would think that hand towels with that logo would be the most popular thing in that store.

I thought that was our secret???
I went and looked at them. Asked a CM why they had them out already, and just got a .
Didn't get one, went with the Jungle River to match the giant poster in my living room.

(Also....some guy in Emporium, a guest, offered me $100 for the WDI Test Track jacket I had on. I countered with $200. I still have it.)
