I remember back in the 90s I had a Legend of the Lion King t-shirt (remember that show?) and one of the original Tower of Terror t-shirts. While not as subtle as some people are describing, they were tastefully done and more in line with what they're offering now. In terms of design they were probably similar to the kind of pop culture tees you'd find at a store like Hot Topic or Kohl's, except they generally had the ride logo.
The Legend of the Lion King featured an abstract African-themed spiral design with drawings representing the characters and the show name in small print + Walt Disney World at the center. The shirt itself was tan in color.
The Tower of Terror shirt was a dark burgundy color featured Mickey from behind standing in front of an opening elevator door. It said Tower of Terror and the back of the shirt had some kind of clever line I can't remember.
