We liked it because:That was kind of what I was thinking too that looking at the map I printed from AllEars, kinda struck me like CSR or the PO's resorts. I wonder why that other poster preferred Carousel area. Looking at the map that looks farthest from the big pools and the food and bars. Well I am actually not sure where the big pools are. I am thinking Grandstand and Springs since there are pool bars located in that vicinity?
We liked it because:
It was close to the entrance of the resort
Had a great bus stop
Had a great view
Was very quiet and unbusy.
It would be the furthest from DTD and I think the Springs is closest to the biggest pool.Is it the closet area to DTD? What area are the big pools located?
The second feature pool is in the Paddock section, which is also probably the most spread-out section of SSR. They have a take-out food selection there, too, via the Paddock Grill, but it's not on allears' map which I'm guessing is a few years old. The original "main pool" is off the main building next to the registration desk, the food court/restaurant and spa/gym.That was kind of what I was thinking too that looking at the map I printed from AllEars, kinda struck me like CSR or the PO's resorts. Actually went with the dvcrentalstore!First, thank you for telling me how the internet works.
Second, I know it's a moot point since the OP booked a resort and all, but here was the logic behind my genuinely-trying-to-be-helpful-and-apologizing-for-knowing-how-it-read-but-still-trying-to-help-nonetheless post.
Maybe the internet works differently for me than most folk, but generally, when I type a word or phrase into a search engine, the links I'm given are usually in order of what the search engine regards as "relevancy." For example, if I type in the name "Ronald Reagan" the first item I get is the wikipedia entry for Reagan, followed by an entry on the white house site, followed by biography.com. If I type in the word "Doppelganger" I get again wikipedia, followed by a merriam-webster definition. "Ibiza" once again goes to wikipedia first, followed by Ibiza's official tourism page (all this despite the fact that I don't use wikipedia all that often). "What do bad clams look like" first gives me an image search on "bad clams," which includes actual photos as well as cartoons of clams with attitude, because "what do bad clams look like" is not that common a phrase. So the search engine opens its parameters, looking for relevance. And until/unless net neutrality is struck down officially and websites can pay search engines to always be a top search item, that's probably the way it will continue to work.
If you type in "dvc rental," you get the three links I provided, because they're the most relevant, the sites most people use, the most popular sites. The ones who make the effort to be above-board and safe so you won't feel you risk being scammed if you use them. The three, along with mouseowners (#5 in my search query BTW), most people apparently seem to use. It wasn't meant to be snarky, it was a way to say "why wait, you're in a rush, here are the three most widely used rental sites."
Hope that clears everything up.
To the OP, I'm glad you got a rental. The only potential negatives about SSR (and that depends on who you are and what you want out of a WDW vacation) is the location (since you're not walking or monorail or ferry distance to any of the parks) and a somewhat more muted theme compared to other DVC resorts. Meanwhile, if anyone in your party likes to shop, you couldn't pick a better place. If you were thinking about doing La Nouba, great location. If you don't have a car of your own and want to go to other resorts to visit or eat, you are close to a "hub" where you can catch a bus to any other resort (ask to stay in Congress Park if possible). 2 main pools and some quiet pools. Lots of dining options because of its location. More "plus"-es than many people realize.
How did you wind up renting?
Yep!! We were able to get the exact dates we were wanting!!Yay! I'm on my way to SSR for my first stay at that resort too in less than 2 weeks! Very excited. Were you able to get October dates?
I know this will seem rude, but in the time it took for you to write your request, you could've googled "dvc rental" and found
http://dvcrentalstore.com/
http://www.dvcrequest.com/
http://dvc-rental.com/home/
Probably the three most popular & safest places in order of popularity.
I don't understand why people like you post, the op was asking for opinions from people here on the forums. Isn't that what these are for is asking people what they think? All you had to do was answer the question & help her or not post at all & go on to the next subject!

Give a man a recipe for fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to do a google search on "fish," he gets recipes to eat for a lifetime...news on oil spills affecting seafood prices...lyrics from the solo career of the former lead singer of prog rock band Marillion...all sorts of important stuff.Maybe if you just answered the question without the comment it would have saved some replies. Oops, sorry for the comment.

Actually I did google it and found several sites, I was trying to get some advice on which ones were the best.
Thanks
