New 2013 WDW Ticket Prices

I plan on doing DL California next year, and will also continue to renew my WDW pass. WDW is only 20 minutes away so I cant resist. Besides I have been an AP holder for 9 years, and I cant let it expire on an odd number. I have to it least make it an even number, and enjoy my personal Disney decade. As I said before, I am hopelessly addicted, and I will always find reasoning to renew. Even if it is something as silly as what I just wrote because that is what addicts do. :(

The first step is to admit you have a problem :p

You're probably right, since those sites dig up the oddest, and easiest to mock, stories.

But for a late night host to talk about Disney raising ticket prices.....must be a REALLY slow funny-news day.

Not really, Disney released a press-release on it. Which is really the part.

Disney may very well be intentionally trying to price out the lower tier.

Ironically enough, they welcomed that lower tier to the parks the minute they started allowing outside food and drink. Suddenly, people for whom it would be too expensive to eat inside the parks, yet too much of a hassle to leave property had a problem solved and were able to come.

And quite frankly I'm OK with Disney continually raising ticket prices until they reach the breaking point for that tier. They tend to be the ones that act the most entitled anyway. The parks are getting way too crowded with riff raff like that. If I wanted to see a bunch of morbidly obese welfare recipients that act like they own the world I'll just head to the nearest McDonald's, thank you.

No. Just bitter. These are the same people who leave trash everywhere, treat Cast Members like garbage and allow their brats to climb on and molest everything that is nailed down leading to aggressive wear and tear beyond the norm. In short, these are the people who pay the least, yet act like they pay the most, and have no respect for what it is they've actually paid for. Good riddance to bad rubbish if they can no longer afford to come in a few years.

I don't understand how you can assign one social class to this behavior. Believe me, I've seen this behavior across the spectrum of income levels.

Best post ever.

If you need to bring a cooler of bologna sandwiches in, you can't afford WDW.

Ever go to the budget boards? Never again

I have no problem with people bringing their own lunches and snacks to WDW. I bring snacks, too.

I see no reason to pay Disney a gazillion dollars for Craisins when I can toss some in a baggie. But I have no problem with people who prefer to pay higher prices for their Craisins, either.

To each, his own.

Years ago, when you weren't supposed to bring food into the parks, I had walked my mom out to her car while the rest of my family had gone into The Living seas. As I sat by the exit waiting for them to come out, a rather large woman in a giant dress came out with her family and proceded to take out a complete chicken dinner from under her dress for her family. I swear I couldn't eat chicken for months after that!

Indeed. I've handed over the better part of a 20 to Disney in exchange for an uninspired fast food meal more times than I'd care to admit, mostly because I lack the foresight or motivation to bring in my own food. I'd say anyone who opts for his own cold cut sandwich over a magical burger combo is, to quote a favorite line from Muppetvision, "Smarter than us!"

Perhaps if everyone were forced to eat from Quick Service, the guest complaints would require them to put out a decent meal. Like Disneyland, Plaza Inn Fried Chicken, mmmmm

Or just more options in general! I had forgotten how diversified DLR's counter service line-up was. To be fair, WDW is offering more and better options now than they were 3 years ago. But when every location offers the same burger, the same french fries, or the same chicken nuggets with just a slightly different presentation, it becomes clear that they still have a long way to go.

I've brought in my own food and snacks, eaten QS, eaten TS, and eaten signature dining many, many times. I've done the dining plan and not done the dining plan. So, I suppose, my inferred income level from my dining peccadilloes would be very hard to guess. The weirdest thing I bring into a giant theme park is this -

I love looking like Captain Weirdo, eating my crackers and tuna with my teeny, tiny little plastic spoon shaped to maximize the amount of tuna I can get out of the tin. My family is really embarrassed by this which will cause me to eat another box of tuna (will that phrase make it past the filters? should I think of a way to tie it in with Pandora's box?). I'll just say, "Give me another Brunswick...."
