Nemo's Submarine Voyage

Does NSV still have some of the older AAs fromthe submarine voyage?

I'd actually like to see WDW give us a version of 20K Leagues from TDS. That is one awesome ride...and here's no water involved, thus no degradation of AAs or ride mechanics.

There aren't any older AA's, no. But there are a couple tributes to the old sub voyage if you look hard enough... Sea serpent, anyone?? :sohappy:

I'm not so sure about that. The sea turtles and sea bass both look pretty familiar, though the latter move their mouths now. And where was the danged sea serpent and mermaid? We were stuck in that area for about 5 minutes and neither my friend or I could find them.
I do have to say I agree that the video effects worked better at Epcot than they seem to at Disneyland. They appeared much more flat and diffused to me here than they did at Epcot. Perhaps they're still working on them, though. I know it was pretty much a down-to-the-wire type of opening.
Overall, I'm glad to have the subs back, partly because I worked at Disneyland about 11 years ago and it made me feel insanely old to tell people I used to work on the Subs, The Peoplemover, and Star Tours. If they could only get Peoplemover up and running again, I wouldn't sound so old anymore!

I still can't find the mermaid, but the sea serpent is there! His head is a rock formation at the very end. Here's a link to the pic: http://micechat.com/forums/showpost....&postcount=185

Yes and no...while they arent the EXACT figures from the original several new figures that look identical to the old ones are back including Giant Sea Bass, battling crabs, giant clams, etc. There is also a homage to the Sea Serpent and one of the mermaids and if you remember the AA divers from the old ride...one of their helmets is lying around in one of the scenes..a subtle hint at what fate befell upon those attempting to seek the treasure hidden beneath the waves.

Then theres divers and eels and sea turtles with a cartoony look to fit Nemo's world. There are also 3 Angler Fish instead of just 1 but right now they are having problems programing them or something so most of the time they are static right now (Hopefully this will be fixed soon).

I've been on both. Rode on Nemo at DLR last week. Fortunately for me, I had a connection to get me on the ride in a matter of minutes. The wait at the time was 3 hours.

The ride itself is nostoligic. It brings back the idea of the old sub ride and for that reason it was very cool. A cast memeber had told me that the ride and Disneyland was at one point over 8 hours to wait.

It's not easy to do a side by side comparison to see which one is better. Unlike attractions like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and others found at both locations, these rides are different. It's like comparing oranges and tangerines... similar but different. For shear enjoyment and detail, I'm gonna call the EPCOT Nemo ride more entertaining. There is much more detail, and the ride at EPCOT gives you great opportunity to enjoy the large tanks in addition to all the special effects. Disneyland Nemo does not have the detail found in EPCOT and that would be because of the limitations of space I would presume.

If given the opportunity, you gotta ride them both and see for yourself. Very enteraining and fun! Great work to the Imagineers!

At least we can all hopefully agree that Epcot's Nemo is an upgrade over the Seabase Alpha Seacabs..... They did what they could with the limited track space in that building.

The one downside is that they completely abandoned any attempt at marine education for a rather straightforward dark ride. I like it, but I think it would have belonged better at The Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. At least the Cabs told you something about the population in the tanks...even if it was only a 2 minute ride.

Forget the projections...the disneyland ride has REAL audio animatronics (remember those?) unlike epcot's that has one angler fish and a couple of jelly fish that look like they wre purchased at a local dollar store.

Have you actually been on DL's Submarines w/ Nemo? Few of the AAs are full-motion ones.

It also has a cohesive story and ties into Tomorrowland and includes plenty of homages to the former attraction...things you will never see in a modern WDW ride (3 Cabelleros, Monsters Inc:Laugh Floor, Stitch escape anyone?)

It has a "cohesive story" because it basically retells the movie. Also, the attraction barely ties into Tomorrowland; the voiceovers merely mention "listening to the fish" at one point.

Anyway, my original post isn't supposed to be my personal opinion. I was merely restating what the DL-centric boards are saying about Nemo.

A cast memeber had told me that the ride and Disneyland was at one point over 8 hours to wait.

A hyperbole at the least. The ride itself is 15 minutes long but they fit a ton of people on those subs. The line moves in 15 minute intervals but once it does you travel quite a distance in line. I opted to take on CM's advice to come right before park closing and get in line and the wait was only about 1.5 hours. Probably less, the cool thing was Disneyland was pretty much cleared out by the time we were escorted out and it looked like a ghost town with everything lit up but no one around.....worth the wait but not a necessity every time I hit DL, IMHO....

8 hour wait... my source revealed!

Tim, my waiter at Blue Bayou restaurant stated that at one point during the first week, the wait was 8 hours. He also recommended going to the Nemo ride close to closing time stating that Disney would allow you to get into line up to closing time no matter how long the wait.

Wow. Its hard to believe that it could be 8 hours but with the intervals and wait times it isn't that hard to believe....on second thought....

I was there the first week, and the length of the line never went above 90 minutes (at least, that's what the sign said. The actual wait was more like about 60). Maybe it was insane the first day, or the first weekend, but the two days I was there that week they didn't even have ropes set up for anything beyond that 90 minute mark. I think somebody's smoking something...but I could be wrong.

My friends went to DLR the first day of opening the ride. They waited 4 hours and they didn't think it was that great. They didn't even know that they had AA...I had to tell them repeatedly and show them links to prove to them they had them. They are Disney fans (but not as experienced as myself), and they were very disappointed. They said they would go on the ride if it was 15 minutes or less...anything else...not worth it.

I don't believe the 8 hour wait either. I know the line can get down to IASW, but that's definitely not 8 hours. The line has gotten to 5 hours, but only with in the first few days of opening, and on extremely busy days. Other than that, I've seen about a 90-120 minute wait.
