Nemo's Submarine Voyage

Have you actually been on DL's Submarines w/ Nemo? Few of the AAs are full-motion ones.

True but still more AAs than epcots version

It has a "cohesive story" because it basically retells the movie. Also, the attraction barely ties into Tomorrowland; the voiceovers merely mention "listening to the fish" at one point.

The story is similar to the original Submarine Voyage. In the original you board a submarine for a voyage to the north pole...this time you board a submarine for a voyage to an active undersea volcano (which was also from the original ride). The retelling of finding nemo is really just an eleborate subplot in the attraction. It ties to Tomorrowland because the focus of the attraction is still about marine research and deep sea exploration something that will play a bigger role in our future.

I rode it a couple of days ago and the posted wait time was 2 hours, but I was on the ride in less than 90 minutes. And yes it is worth the wait and this is to The Seas with Nemo and Friends what DL's POTC is to the MK's. There is NO comparison.

The one downside is that they completely abandoned any attempt at marine education for a rather straightforward dark ride. I like it, but I think it would have belonged better at The Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. At least the Cabs told you something about the population in the tanks...even if it was only a 2 minute ride.

That's a valid point. The Living Seas version 1.0 was definitely more educational, but a little too boring for most children. I grew up with version 1.0 and never really appreciated it until I got into my teen years. I always dreaded the preshow movie for some reason. I think the lightning crashes at the beginning always scared me when I was little.

You can still find education in the Nemo version, you just have to actually go looking for it. In version 1.0, they crammed the education down your throat with the opening movie and the sea cabs. I'd say more people appreciate the subtle approach used in the Nemo version.

On a seperate note, has anyone out there ever visited the new Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta? It's basically the original Living Seas on steroids. Very educational but also insanely large and kid friendly. I think it houses the largest indoor tank in the world (the Seas at Epcot used to be the largest).

I just got back from Disneyland, and so now I have ridden both Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage and The Seas with Nemo and Friends. I honesty would have to say that Epcot wins this battle hands down. While there were some moments of FNSV that were entertaining, I thought the rest was just plain boring. It is also a verrrrrry long attraction, and for a tall person like myself, crouching your neck down to look out of a porthole for approximately 20 minutes can put a bitter taste in your mouth. The Epcot version, in my opinion, is much more enjoyable and entertaining, and more specifically, the EAC and angler fish portions of the attraction are much more enjoyable and thrilling at Epcot than Disneyland. I have to say the thing I liked about Disneyland's Subs the best was whenever you see Darla scuba diving... the rest goes downhill from there (and this is at the beginning!)

Ohhhh....I find it hard to believe that EPCOT wins this hands down. I "enjoy" The Seas with Nemo, However just from watching the videos of the Submarine Voyage, I assume it to be a MUCH better ride......

They should've built a bigger ride at Epcot--less queue, more ride. Set up some switchbacks around the seagulls out front and we're all happy.

At least Disney fixed the problem and put up a divider between The attraction and the rest of Sea Base Alpha (btw it has kept same name correct?)...It was a real bummer to go through the whole queue (which I think is one of the best of all 4 parks) where it made you feel submersed ...only to pop out just before you load to see the mobs of people floating about the pavillion.

Especially since in a year or two, the lines shouldn't be THAT long anyways. For what it is, I think it's a good attraction, but it's nowhere near the Subs.
