really any ride has the ability to turn it fastpass on and off. Sometimes on super slow days even space will close it fast pass. But what we do is really just cover them up and maybe take the FP paper out of the machines. But should we need FP running again then BAM just throw the paper in teh machines and they are running again...also got to try and make sure you don't get run over by guest trying to get the frist pass.

Ah yes, cheerleader comp. at WDW. Otherwise known at our house as the week from Hell!!:fork: Flashback to 2001, my daughter sitting next to me on the bus while a group does a cheer OVER THE PA SYSTEM OF THE BUS!!!! Yes, they were also jumping around in the aisle. :hammer: "I'm going to beat them all senseless if they don't stop!!" she says. Unfortunately, they didn't, but I calmed her down. The sad part was that there were several parents there who had small children sleeping in their arms, that were awakened when the girls started screaming over the PA.
Never again will we go at the same time as the comp. I understand that everyone is there to have fun, but jeez people, have some consideration for those around you. (rant ended):p

According to my sister, last year at MGM, the place was swarming with cheerleaders. They took over the Indiana Jones stage and screamed their heads off while riding Star Tours to the point where you couldn't hear Rex talking.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip, NemoRocks; my trip was also very glorious -- I drove down to Florida on Friday (arriving at the Yacht Club at ~8:30pm), and left Sunday afternoon at around 2:00pm. Hm, perhaps you saw my group there? Granted, it's not at all likely, but my group would be the one doing goofy 'walks' around the parks. During our one day at the parks, we went from MGM to Epcot to the Magic Kingdom to Epcot, heh.

Alright, i'm back from another glorious trip to the World. Saturday was MK and AK, Sunday it was the Studios. And as you can tell from the title of this thread, there were cheerleaders. Everywhere.

You know, I actually didn't notice them until we found ourselves surrounded by them in the Gasparilla Grill. They were very amusing, in an obnoxious sort of way (to the cheerleader(s) here -- I'm not making a general statement about cheerleaders :P).
-Everest construction looks great!
Didn't see it, as we didn't visit AK.
-The park was crowded, but the lines were short.
Yes; I don't believe we waited in line for over thirty minutes. Our longest wait was for Mickey's Philharmagic. Aside from the Magic Kingdom, we hardly encountered any lines at all. Then again, we missed all of Epcot's Futureworld rides, unfortunately. The lines that we did wait in were fun, however -- My Disney team was relatively small this time, consisting only of four people, which means we were more likely to interact with the fine guests waiting in line.
-Wait times were not posted on the board when I got to the MK at about 5:45.
We got there about an hour (?) earlier, and I think we saw wait times. I can't recall, to be honest.
-I only went on two rides, Splash and Thunder. Splash was walk-on. Thunder posted 30 when I got in line, which turned into 15.
Due to the cold weather, no doubt. Heh, I enjoyed Splash Mountain, but I must say it was my most miserable Splash Mountain experience. I had the honour of sitting in the front seat and was violently splashed. I was somewhat chilly after that, thanks to the aforementioned 40-degree F temperature.
-Splash looks amazing with the new paint. The water wasn't running down the final drop and the waterfall before you get into the last scene was not running, i'm thinking it's because of the paint. For some reason though, both rides I took seemed a lot slower than usual. I don't think a lot of AAs were working as well.
I was slightly disappointed with Splash Mountain. You are correct about the audio animatronics: In the Laughin' Place, the critters weren't popping out from their 'craters', which is generally my favorite part. Also, the streams of water weren't leaping from hole to hole.
-Wishes was fine as usual......
Still haven't seen it. My group opted for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. Which is better?
-It was COLD! When we left the MK Saturday night going to our hotel it was 42 degrees. Sunday morning it was again in the low 40s but the temperature climbed into the low 60s in the afternoon, yet it was still cold enough to keep a jacket on the entire day. Sunday morning my hands were frozen at the Studios!
My people and I found the weather pleasant enough during the day, and we're very thankful that it didn't rain once. Heh, I miss the intense, relentless heat of Florida's summers, but I can't complain, as it's much colder and cloudier in Georgia than it is in Florida at the moment.

only this time we're not arguing about the foolish actions of the person who typed it, nor their sheer lack of respect for those in authority. Rather, we're arguing about the guests depicted in the update, which I would have to say, the original poster probably doesn't disagree with my opinion on them.

Sorry, but if that's not annoying, that's at least unsafe. And also, CM's told them to stop with the lifting people up, and they still did... nice disregard for rules there on those groups' behalfs.

No trace of bitterness there  :hammer:

But arguing, yes. I think it's interesting how the same person always seems to be in the middle of all these arguments, but this isnt valid in this thread, considering this same person started the arguments.

look, Rob can post his opinion, he is a CM who has to deal with tons of brats every year. Realize not everyone shares the same view and if you dont like the comment ignore it. But I must say Cheerleaders and youth groups to Disney World have a proven track record of being a pain in the ... No offence to others, but really, get over it, its a persons personal comment.

I never, ever said he could not post his opinion. I get a good laugh out of his opinions. It's alright for Rob to post his opinions, but if I have something to say, I just need to ignore it, right Blizz? That does not seem to fair. But anyways, people use these updates for help, and I dont need this right now, so Im going to be respectful to Nemorocks, and just put it to an end right here.

I've been working for a month at group headquarters, the All-Stars.

I've taken their luggage out of the buses, to the rooms, checked them in, taken bags back to the buses.

I've also dealt with regular guests who have had their doors being knocked on at midnight. I've dealt with the guests that have been having prank phone calls.

I've dealt with the utter mess that groups leave all over the ground. I've seen the windows that are decorated that aren't supposed to be.

I've dealt with trying to explain to the kids that they can't get into their rooms without a chaperone if they happen to lose their key. I've dealt with replacing keys that don't work anymore.

Not all members of the groups are bad. There are those that are. Groups give both the cast and guests the most trouble/complaints.

Wow...You're not supposed to do this? You mean the decorating, like the Christmas lights and window decals? I have never seen them at AS, but I see it all the time at Pop Century. I never knew it was against the rules, or are the rules different at AS, then from PC?

It's not so bad for Christmas lights and signs and stuff. It's the groups that use soap and/or shoe polish to write on the windows and mirrors.

Blizz, who is known to some as Brent, does feel you should ignore personal comments that will get you into a situation like it has here. I dont mean to be rude, but sometimes you just gotta let it go... let it go man... let it go....

All of group billing including damages is done by the groups people and housekeeping/building managers.

Front Desk really doesn't have anything to do with it.

I think the key word he used was "NOT SUPPOSED TO BE" ....I don't believe he was talking about decals and things that were supposed to be there.

I used to be a young cheerleader, and OMG to think back at what I had done, I should have slapped myself! We were always worse in a groups also. I feel for you all who have to deal with it. I swear when dd gets older she better not act like how I did at that age :animwink:
