I just read a helpful tip that I would never have thought of. While in the parks, if you have your charger with you for your cell or electronic devices, you can bring it to Guest Services for free charging. I would think that most of us arrive at the park with a good overnight charging of our phones, but those handheld games (time wasters while in line) and Kindles and such, have batteries that drain so quickly, this is a pretty handy tip.

I was always pretty adamant with my kids about "no electronics in the park besides a phone" but then I realized that they can make the wait time in a longer line a little more bearable. :p

Has anyone ever used this service?

I've had endless problems with this. Guest services won't allow you to use their outlets, but if you hunt around you can sometimes (very rarely) find an open, public facing outlet. I know Disney doesn't want us on our electronics all day, but a few recharging stations near the front of the park wouldn't hurt.

the worst is the you plug your phone in after a long day at the park and tired and dont make sure its really charging. Then in the am your phone is dead becuse the plug need the switch to be on.....:hammer:

I ran into this issue a couple weeks ago. There were all sorts of open outlets at Pecos Bills in the dining room. I charged for about 30-45 minutes while we at lunch - phone still died though - i need a better battery and/or to stop taking so many photos

We had a dying cell phone once at Epcot and went into Guest Services. There was an outlet in the wall over to the right if you're looking at the counter, and we just went over, plugged it in and sat for a few minutes while it charged. (We were waiting for a call to meet another member of the party so it was important that we had charge.)

No one said anything to us.

Florida totally drains my cell phone battery. I can be fully charged. And 1 hour and a few applications/use of camera/phone calls it is dead. I either need that 1 lb thing to carry around or I might try buying a throwaway cell with a local florida # from wally world. I have to have a functional cell. I work while on vacation...

I bring an extra external battery with me. You have to charge them at night as well but then when you are off to a park and your phone starts to die during the day, wah laa!, you don't have to search for an outlet. Just have to plug your phone into it and it turns on and and gives all it's charge to your phone. They are actually pretty "cheap" too...mine was about 40 bucks...but it provides a good 5-6 hours of charge so it was worth it.

Yes I thought about that option I might do that, currently I have the Galaxy android thing and after a year of use it has definite battery issues even here in Texas under heavy use...So I can get a spare battery, I can maybe buy one of those portable charger things to carry around, I can maybe get a florida number on a throwaway phone or prepay whatever you call it, and the other thing I thought maybe I should switch to an IPhone, maybe the battery on the IPhone last longer..

There is an exposed outlet in the seating next to Aloha Isle which I've seen people use to charge their phones. I've run out of battery multiple times at the park but I'm not too attached to my phone during the day so I've never felt the need to charge it.

I actually have an iPhone. I'd say it all depends on what you do with it... if you play games on it like me to while a way the time in line...it dies rather quick. :D But in general, I've been happy with it's battery life.

I play no games except angry birds when I am utterly bored which isn't often. It is the email and the texting and the phone calls. And I swear, Florida drains batteries of Texas based cell phones..

I bought an extra battery from Amazon for my Motorola Druid, light and easy to carry. If I'm going to be out all day I might throw my charge in my backpack but at least with the extra battery I have a back up plan. It was a lot cheaper on Amazon than buying it from Verizon.

The Florida air is thicker than Texas air. They passed a law a while back requiring all Florida air be at least 9.45% thicker than Texas air. (this was all done to help protect Northern visitors from sunburn) It takes more power to push your signal through the thick air.

Not to bring Universal into this, but I saw an electronic recharge building in Islands of Adventure and thought it was a cool idea.
