I noticed on the original post that you're planning a multi-day stay at WDW. I'd say try it during a morning. The park tends to open earlier than the three others, so if you can slog out of bed to get there at opening, you might find yourself having a great time.
Do know that for some strange reason, it seems way hotter at this park than at the other three, so you might want to cut out by mid-day anyway.
Dinosaur is a cool ride, especially if you haven't been on it before. Be sure to pay attention to the pre-show. It helps add to the fun.
Primeval Whirl didn't quite operate correctly for us, but it looks like its a blast if the cars actually spin.
If you like shows, Lion King is the best in all of WDW. The afternoon parade for the 100 Years celebration is quite excellent, too.
And you have to do the Safari ride.
The zoo portions are pretty cool if you take the time to give them a look. And the Bugs Life 3-D is a hoot (as good as the other 3-D attractions in WDW). And Kali River Rapids is an interesting Disney spin on a rapids ride.
Most popular attractions have FAST PASS. Use them and then take the time to wander around or check out a show.
Is there enough to do to cover one day? If you really meander and check out all the detail, maybe. But if you can Park Hop, then definately check it out for at least a few hours.
By the way, my family went to AK for the first time this past April and arrived not expecting much. When we left, we were greatly impressed. But we weren't just ride, ride, ride oriented. And I think that's the key at this park.
