Need opinions on the Caribbean Beach Resort

We are trying to decided where to stay for our honeymoon in Dec. 2008. On our last trip we stayed at POFQ and absolutely LOVED it, but want to experience other resorts.

Does anyone have any strong opinions of the CBR? I know it's huge compared to POFQ, and I'm not a big fan of the neon color scheme, but I want to know what you loyal WDWMagic folks think.

Thanks in advance!

I personally like CBR and out of all the moderates, I have stayed there the most. I like the the tropical theme and bright colors. The rooms feature your typical moderate resort furniture. Yes, it is a bit spread out and the bus stops at each island (Martinique, Old Port Royale (Food Court), Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba, and Barbados. Each island has its own pool and there is the main pool at Old Port Royale. Haven't stayed there recently so I don't know how the buses are, but they weren't that bad the last time, provided you weren't the last stop.

I've only stayed at 2 moderates - Coronado Springs on '98 (the year it opened) and Caribbean Beach last year. Liked both, but if I had to pick, I'd do CB again. Just liked the layout, and the food court was better. Ask for a room in Jamaica - we were first picked up in the morning and first off at night.

The colors are not that bad actually, I stayed in the yellow and blue ones, i think Jamaica or Aruba, anyways, they were really nice. Its quite and peaceful.

We have stayed at both and each have their own unique vibes.

The POR is surely more romantic especially the AB section. I thought the food court was nicer, and the main pool certainly trumps the CBR's pirate pool. The resort felt secluded and quiet, and boat ride to DTD is really a bonus.

The CBR however was really nice. It was clean, the staff friendly, and the little beaches on the main lake are really pretty. My wife and I rented a surrey bike and rode around the lake which was really nice. If you could swing a water view and get a good location looking at the lake (not a pool which is still a 'water' view), then the views would be hard to beat.

Both resorts are large and spread out, and building selection is a big help if you want to be close to the food court and bus stops etc....

The only other consideration IMHO is what your taste in environment is. The CBR is all about white sand, palm trees, very beachy and tropical. The POR is very rual and woodsy in AB, it's just a matter of where you're from and what you like. We're from CA, so adobe and cactus is no big deal to us, so staying at the CSR holds no appeal, but because we don't have lots of woods and forest around where we live, we love the POR. But I have read reviews of people who were from a place where they had lots of trees and woods, and felt the theming of the POR was too close to home, and like the tropical setting of CBR better.

Hope this helps.

HAVE FUN!!!!!

Hello,

I was very disappointed in the Caribbean Beach Resort. If you don't mind a long walk to everything, then then resort is for you. If not then I would consider looking into any of the other moderate resorts, CBR is more of a "family" resort, lots of little kids running around all of the time. Now before I get yelled at for Disney being a family place, if you are trying to celebrate your honeymoon then I would recomend looking into any of the other Moderate resorts or even getting a room at one of the deluxe resorts. They are wonderful, my wife and I stayed at the Yacht Club for our honeymoon, yes it was a little more pricey than staying at the CBR but it was worth it, we had a magical time.

I personally loved CBR, but then again, we were relatively close to Port Royale, our car and Epcot (we were in Barbados). It's a huge, sprawling resort, and if you get stashed far away from the epicenter of the resort (Trinidad South is about as far away as you can humanly be), you may not have a terrific time. On the positive side however: lots of pools, beautiful landscaping, a nice amount of counter-service dining options, and boat rentals.

we just returned form the crb resrot. last week , and it was wonderful. very peace ful, nice cast members. very helpful. and very good food!.. all and all it was a fun. enjoyable trip!

if you want to be on the bus foirst for the parks. try the stop in front of old port. it was nice. to be the first on the bus for the parks and not have to wait for the crowded buses to come around. we learned that after the second day!
so i recommned it

and the fire works from epcot are a plus,. and nice to look out at the water at night!

We had a good time at CBR a few years ago. I liked the beach atmosphere and watching the fireworks from EPCOT. We stayed in Martinique and found it very convenient to the Food Court, Beach and Bus Stop. We were with our girls so it wasn't a honeymoon. I think wherever you are you'll have a great honeymoon!

CBR is very peaceful & relaxing. We saw rabbits running on the grounds daily. The beach is really pretty & we loved just sitting in the hammocks looking at the water. Watching the EPCOT fireworks from the beach in a hammock would have been romantic if not for my 2 kids & inlaws being right next to us. We had our own vehicle so CBR being spread out only added to its charm. & staying in Trinidad South, it took about ten minutes to walk to Port Royale.

Trinidad South has a very private beach that overlooks woods. It could be quite romantic;). And is have the price of the Polynesian. The rooms haven't been renovated in a while which is the only negative in my mind. If you rent a car you will enjoy this resort even more. Hope that helps.

POR is definitely by favourite moderate, but CBR runs a close second. I love the hammocks on the beach and the island, Caribbean Cay. Very lush and tropical. And while it doesn't have the boat option to DTD like POR or POFQ, you can have quite a nice view of Epcot's fireworks from certain points on CBR's beaches. I say go for it!

I have stayed at CBR the most and enjoy it. I did learn quickly those to request a room in Jamica or Aruba. this way you are near the bridge. when you leave the room a short walk over the bridge and you are at Old Port Royle. Grab breakfast, step out to the bus stop and away to the parks you go. Also enjoy catching park of the fireworks at night by the main pool that are seen from Epcot. I did also enjoy POFQ - stayed there last winter. Small and quaint setting. I did not care for CS - the bus service or food court. Give it a try - you might be surprised!

Stayed at CBR in 2006. it was a great resort but probably because i was in trinidad north (which was right next to the pool, and food court. If you were in another area i dont know if it would have been so good. also you have to go to all the other stops when being picked up and dropped off. but if you dont mind that its a great resort.

We stayed at CBR in 2003 and absolutely loved it. We have only ever been to the values before though so I cannot compare it to the other moderates.
Like others have said I would request a room in Jamaica or Aruba. We stayed in Aruba and we walked out our door right to the bridge, and take the bridge to the food court. It was not a long walk at all. We most of the time caught the bus to the parks in Port Royale after we had gotten something for breakfast at the food court. We found it got us to the parks quicker. There is quite a few stops to each section but we are not ones who are always in a hurry to get back at night, and I have never travelled with children so it wasn't really a big deal to be on the buses a little extra time. I feel you might experience that with most value or moderate resorts anyways. I definitely recommend it, and I didn't feel the color scheme was neon like. I liked the colors.

Personally we will not stay at CBR again. We have given it a few tries and it just doesn't compare to the other resorts we have stayed at. Also I agree with the person who said you should check out the deluxe hotels, especially since its your honeymoon. But if you don't want to pay that much the other moderates are all better than CBR in my opinion.

Growing up all I stayed at was the Caribbean beach resort. I had never had a problem with it. So when I went for the first time with my husband and daughter we just stayed at the cbr. It had just finished a rehab on the food court and that is when I started to dis like it. So we went back again and we still ids liked it. Its also one of the older resorts so we had problems with our air conditioner. We stayed last time at the Beach club resort and now we will never go back.

25 days to go!:xmas:
