Need help with surprising my kids with a trip to WDW

We are heading to WDW in a couple of weeks and our kids (9,6,4) have no idea! My wife and I have been bouncing ideas off of each other, but haven't hit a homerun yet. We plan on picking up the 9 & 6yo at school and having everything in the car and ready to go. Their teachers know and we're good to go from that standpoint - sweet!

What might you folks suggest as a good time and a good way to tell them?

I've thought about using something as a "we've got good news and bad news" startup line. Not sure what the bad news is though. Another thought is to have my 6yo read some words off of index cards (we, are, going, to, DisneyWorld!, today!) much like we do for school - "sight words".

Anyway...your thoughts?

I like the reading the words idea. That's cool. If you did the "good news / bad news" bit the bad news could be "you won't be able to go to school next week" or "you won't be home this weekend to (whatever they normally like to do)".

I'd probably do the words on the index cards and give them each one to read. I'd pick them up with everything in the car ready to go. The oldest gets: We are. Then hand the 6 year old: going to. Then you whip out a big piece of paper and hold it up: Disney World...(flip the final sheet)...TODAY!!! Make sure you pull over and have the video camera out. Capturing THAT moment will be priceless. :D

Then of course you go have a rockin' trip, come back, and post your video for us to see ((and cheer with the kids)). LOL!

My friends surprised their kids by pulling up at school to pick them up with Disney music playing in the car and Disney or Bust sign hanging on the car.

Another time they gave each of the kids an envelope with home made puzzle pieces. When it was put together it made mickey.

We are doing the same thing with our 6 & 7 yr old. We have told the kids we are going to Kansas City to see their aunt & uncle. We have kept this secret for a year now. We are going to wait and let them figure it out. I wish it could be when we pull up at the Poly, but I'm sure it will be when we get on the Magical Express bus. Whatever you decide I hope it is as fun for you as it has been for us. Just make sure you have your video rolling!! That is my mother-in-law's job for our trip. Have a great time!!!

This is what we are doing! Only difference is the city and state. We've told them that we are going to visit their aunt and uncle in Ok. I was going to have Mickey call (Enchanged Phone Calls), but my DH doesn't want them to know until we are arriving on property and see it for themselves. I can't wait to see thier faces!!!
