Unless there's a 'work-around' for that type of music file...you may be stuck with that format?

You can also try changing the music format from outside i-tunes? do they have checks to prevent you from changing formats?

best of luck trying to convert the song.

ugh,

I just got irritated and dumped iTunes... to bad they cater mostly to the iPod crowd :(

I will just go with napster 2.0 or BuyMusic.com... its much eaiser to transfer my music to my portable with a wma file, and windows media player.

*shrug* :)

More format wars! I hate that.

At some point Apple will cave in and let you convert files to MP3. They're just a stubborn, if not arrogant, company. And this is coming from an iMac owner!

LOL.... thanks Gary...

I know AAC is supposed to be better.... (tighter compression, smaller file size...etc) But I guess I am just so used to mp3, I dont really wanna switch yet. :)

You could always use TotalRecorder to record the audio and then save it as a WAV or MP3, whatever you wish... ;)

NO!!! Stop!

The only way around is to burn the CD and then burn it to MP3. Sorry, it's DRM, the only way they'll sell the songs. Now, as for the iPod, well, you might want to hold on to iTunes for a while, you might just want to buy one when it drops price... opps, you didn't hear that from me ;)

It's my understanding that you can convert from ACC to MP3 with iTunes except for tracks that were downloaded from the iTunes store. The purpose of this is to maintain the digital rights management that is embedded in the ACC file. It's not about trying to force you into a format, it's about protecting copyright.

I understand that. The problem is that the only portable player that plays ACC tunes is the iPod, so people with other MP3 players are SOL.
