Welcome to my nightmare....

I am an extreme ride-a-phobe, and it was only until my last trip that I, for the first time in my life, ever got on Big Thunder and Space and loved them. Even with that, though, I still get unnaturally fearfull before riding.

I used to freak about the drop on PotC, ok? That severe.

That being said, if you love Big Thunder and Space, the speed, the twists and turns and all that ricketa racketa, you'll be blown away by Rock n' Roller... actually moreso any steel coaster. It's really really fun.

One catch though: even if you're just afraid of drops, when you're about to get on the launch will look like DEATH to you. First time I attempted to get on I got all the way to the gate, saw the launch and I ended up launching MYSELF out the chicken exit... at pretty much the same speed.

But trust me if you just don't look, just swallow it, hold tight and get in the car you'll feel MUCH better. I feel better when the shoulder thingies come down... it's sort of like there's no backing out so your brain sort of relaxes the fear and tries to go with it.

After that it's all downhill.... so to speak. As far as I know it does have drops but you're just going so fast you don't get that horrible, unnatural plunging to your doom feeling "real" drops give you. All you get is an awesome awesome "THIS F*()*#)&@!^ ROCKS!" feeling. You'll get hooked.

Everest... if you don't like the drops the drop for Everest will not be comfortable. But the ride is so awesome it's TOTALLY worth it. It's like 3 seconds of TERROR and the rest is just insane fun.

Don't hold fast to that drop thing though... I'm still trying to "enjoy" them. It has alot to do with not fighting it. If you're like me you get to the edge and your body goes into a fear spasm. But if you let go and just drop WITH your car you have fun. I'm sure I'll get there.

...at least I better. My girlfriend made it clear next trip I'm finally getting on ToT whether I like it or not. That's gonna be an interesting picture.

You have to think about it logically:

A thousand people get on the roller coaster.
A thousand people get off the roller coaster.

Every day.

Enjoy the scary parts.
Enjoy the ride.
Go for it.

I finally mastered the Tea Cups using great perserverance and courage and now I enjoy them as well as the roller coasters.
Tha't me now - Master of the Tea Cups. Yeah.
I wish you well.

Good luck.

How did you do this? I can't do round and round rides and would love to ride this with my daughter without getting sick. MS red line made me dizzy all day!

Is it 5:00 yet?
I HATE drops! But what makes the drops worse for me is if they are in the dark. They are 10 times worse for me...for example the "big" drop on Splash isn't as bad to me than the "dip drop" one in the dark because I can see the bottom. I could have sworn the dip drop one wasn't in the dark the first time I rode it and then the next time I was on it it was pitch dark...was there a bulb burnt out or something..

Once you do it, it won't be such a big deal. Splash Mtn and ToT are my two top rides. When I went once to WDW with a friend, she hated coasters but I duped, I mean, convinced her into going on Splash and she loved it and went on it several times after with me. (Try to ride it at night....great park views)

Everest and RnR are not that bad, either. They are quick but do go upside down. Be prepared for how fast RnR really is, though. It took the breath of some of us when we rode it first. It starts off like a bullet.

But with all that said....go for it. You will have fun and love them!!:)

Like others have said, I don't think any of us can tell you the best move. I love BTMRR and Space, but I also love Splash. I get super freaked about the drop (those dang vultures can be really intimidating when you know what's behind them) but after a millisecond of the drop, I'm fine. With that, I've never been on RnR because I was injured on DD at IoA (wow, acronym much?) so I avoid corkscrews like the plague.

Everest is another story. As one poster said, the backwards part made me nauseous and I couldn't eat for about 6 hours as well. It was a completely new feeling for me. I get lightheaded super easily, but never motion sick. It also hurt my body but I was in the back so it was a bit more intense. To me, as a person not too keen on drops, the drop on EE felt incredibly long and I literally asked my friend to make it stop. However, I did it once and I'm glad because it's an amazing ride. I just won't do it again  I suggest trying it once, sitting in the front, and then deciding if you'll do it again.

I just recently braved RnRc for the first time, and let me say it's a great attraction, and I hate drops. It was so much fun, and the theaming inside the show building really took my mind off the actual track configuration. GREAT attraction! The blaring music actually adds to the effect, you can't hear yourself scream!

And if you're squimish of the RnRC launch, don't worry, Highlight the following for the spoiler:

They count down from 5 over the limo's soundsystem before the light turns green, so it's not near as nerve-racking.

I can ride any coaster out there, but put me on the Teacups and it's yammer city.

Let me tell you about the most diabolical theme park ride I've ever been on. It's called the Turtle Whirl at Dutch Wonderland, Lancaster, PA. Yes, that's right, the Turtle Whirl. Yes, at a theme park for kids 12 and under.

It's so cute and innocent looking with these sweet little smiling turtles. You see it in motion and you think, okay that shouldn't be too bad. Then you get on and the nightmare starts. That thing spins you in ways that should not be mentioned in public.

You see moms getting on with infants and then rushing off in terror at the end of the ride thinking they have to take their kid to the ER. To make it worse, my kids loved it and made me ride it 4 times straight. (There was no line, go figure.)

Anyway, sorry for the drift, but looks are not always what they seem when it comes to ride effects.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. I have decided to give each coaster a try. I think I'll love RnRC and hate Everest, but what the hey.

This reminds me of my first trip to Disneyland with my husband (who had never been to any Disney park). I had never ridden Space or Big Thunder because of my fear of drops (Matterhorn I love). So DH convinces me to give them a try "how do you know you hate them if you've never ridden them?" So I tried them and loved them.

Then came Splash. I KNEW I was going to hate it. I spent the entire ride anxiously awaiting the BIG drop (heck, I didn't like the little drop either) and all you can see of me in the photo is my back as I attempt to climb under the seat.

But I feel like I am missing a very atmospheric ride so I have decided to ride it once more (once every 20 years isn't bad, right), figuring that the drop is over Pretty D**m Quick so I won't suffer much. I guess I'll steal some of the airsick bags for the airline on my way to FL.

I think you'll love Everest, and you'll wanna go on again and again after the first time. Its a smooth ride. If you can do Space, then you can def do RnRC, I think Space is a little scarier than RnRC. And Splash is just so much fun!! It's a longer ride, so you'll enjoy it more...and the drop is not bad at all. You won't regret going on all of them. They are very enjoyable.

I am not a huge fan of heights and have rode everything at WDW at least once. Chickened out of RnRC and ToT on our last trip down there last March and really regretted not riding RnRC, not knowing when we would ever get down there again. Luckily, we are going again next March and I will definitely have to pump myself up to go back on RnRC as I did love it the first year we went down (March 2005). I rode EE on our last trip as it wasn't there the first trip. Not a big fan of the backwards part :hurl:, but loved the rest of the ride. As for RnRC, I absolutely hate the launch, but after that the rest of the ride was just awesome. Like others have said, you don't even realize when you are inverted as you are going so fast. ToT, now that's another story! :ROFLOL:

The first time I went on Splash (I was a kid; it just opened) I had my eyes shut the entire time and let me tell you, that's a long ride to do that on  Of course, after the drop and my "thats it?" I wanted to go back and actually see it. My mom said I'd have to wait. Learned my lesson haha

Yea EE can be kinda weird. The drop itself isnt that bad, but the backwards part might make you nauseous simply for the reason that you cant see where you are going. There is absolutely no way that you shouldnt give it a shot though. Its a wonderful ride.

RnRC........eh the launch is pretty intense but after that its VERY tame. Like others have said, the inversions are actually alot of fun and most likely wont bug you at all.
