Hollywood Casino 400, Kansas

1. Joey Logano
2. Kyle Larson
3. Kyle Busch

This was a crazy race; lots of car issues, lots of cautions, etc. I honestly didn't have a clue who would win today.
I'd like to give credit to all the pit crews. Those guys are amazing; each driver has a group trained for quick timing and precision. I'm always in awe watching them work their magic. :)

Some of the issues that came up for the Chase qualifiers were sooo unexpected. I was just waiting to see who the next victim would be.

What a fight between the car haulers between Matt Kenseth and Brad Keselowski and their crews. Can you say all out brawl! At least Tony Stewart stayed out of the fight.

Sounds like I missed an interesting race here. ABC was so late starting the race after that football game (that I thought would never end . . .) that I got distracted, and finally started watching something else at 8 p.m. Then I fell asleep early.

I would have loved to have seen Kevin Harvick win, too.

Yeah, I was calling ABC all kinds of names. You could have seen the prerace and beginning on ESPNews, which I don't have. The tension with the new Chase format seems to really be pushing some drivers. I'm still a little surprised at who is in the bottom and may have their championship run end at Talladega. Jeff Gordon did say during an interview last night "I'm in it to win it!"

What made what ABC did worse to me was the fact the bottom line for a short time actually said go to ESPN news to see the the race, and they had a basketball game on instead.

Really? Ha! (I just have also missed that, apparently. I was probably watching something else at that point; sounds like I didn't miss much!)

Wow, they didn't make it easy for any of us to watch the race last night! :jawdrop:

Top 5 qualifiers in the final practice round, for the Geico 500 at Talladega (Sunday, 2 p.m., ESPN):

1. Kyle Busch, 2. Kyle Larson, 3. Kasey Kahne, 4. Jeff Gordon and 5. Casey Mears

Four out of the five cars are all Chevy.

This going to be NASCAR legend Terry Labonte's last NASCAR Race as a driver after 37 years. I am bring him up because he was the last cup star from his era still racing although it was part time after the 2004 season. Terry Labonte is really one of the true class acts in NASCAR and always been one of the most respected drivers in the cup garage based on how he conducts himself on and off the track.

Terry Labonte's prime was in the 1980's and 1990's. He was not a flashy driver in his prime, but he's a 1984, and 1996 cup champion with 22 career cup 500 wins that includes 2 Labor Day weekend Southern 500 wins. Terry Labonte prime happened when he had to deal with Drivers like Bobby Allison, Richard Petty,Cale Yarborough Dale Earnhardt Sr., Darrell Waltrip, Ricky Rudd, Bill Eliott, Tim Richmond, Geoff Bodine, Neil Bonnett, Davey Allison, Harry Gant, Alan Kulwicki, Rusty Wallace, Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte and Mark Martin. All of those drivers I mentioned are on NASCAR's top 50 drivers of all time list back in 1998 or in Bobby Labonte's case a cup champion in 2000. Terry's Prime really ended in the late 1990's that you could see decline in his performance that started in 1997.

I remembered Terry's prime. He really didn't have a weakness as a driver except being way not aggressive enough on the track. Terry was the better overall driver of the 2 Labontes to me. Terry Labonte was the better road course and short track driver than his younger brother Bobby. Terry Labonte matter of fact won races in sports car classes including the 24 hours of Daytona and the 12 hours of Sebring. The 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 hours of Sebring class wins is a big deal since those races are the most most prestigious endurance races for Sports Cars in the United States.

That was a very interesting commentary on Terry Labonte. I only know a little about the background of some of the drivers, so I appreciate the information you shared. Obviously, you've been following this motor sport for quite a few years, and have gained some unique insights. I'm sure Terry will have a number of fans wishing him well, for his last NASCAR race this afternoon.

What a crazy race. Just glad the 24 car survived to make it to the next round. Felt bad for Kyle Busch. He was having a great Chase, and now he's out. Also eliminated were Dale Jr, Kasey Kahne and Jimmie Johnson.

Kyle had an unfortunate afternoon. What an odd race it was, yesterday. Yikes. Never thought that both Dale and Jimmy would be out of the Chase. This season has been baffling, to say the least.

Field is wide open now for a new champion. As it stands now, my hunch is this may be Jeff Gordon's year.

Martinsville is a great track for Gordon and Hamlin. 3 out of my final 4 are still in it (Gordon, Harvick, and Kesolowski)

Yellow flag, yellow flag, red flag. I'm beginning to think this is the race that will never end. At least there's no rain. (knocking on wood)
