There used to be a wave machine in the Seven Seas Lagoon - True

There is a basketball mini-court at the top of the Matterhorn in Disneyland- True

The black sections in the middle of the Swan and Dolphin hotels were designed for a monorail to eventually go through- False

There is a Disney "jail" underneath the magic kingdom - False

The top spires Cinderella Castle can be dismantled if a hurricane is coming - False ....it also isn't the home of a top secret missile silo

here are a few that come to mind, off the top of my head:

All the benches in the parks are repainted every night - not true, thankfully

all the light bulbs are inspected and all burned out light bulbs are replaced every night - not true. there is no formal inspection for every light bulb on a daily basis.

Coca Cola donates all product at no cost in exchange for advertising - believed to be true

it is believed by some park employees that there is a ghost inhabiting the Pirates of the Caribbean building - true

There is a series of tunnels underneath the Magic Kingdom - true

Disney throws away a lot of unsold food at the conclusion of every day rather than donate it to a food bank or homeless shelter - true when I worked there. The reason expressed to me was a belief that knowing the food would be put to such use would discourage efficiency.

Mickey Mouse is brought to life by a girl - mostly true.

Right, I believe what really happens if it's really late at night is they'll play the IASW music through the park louder and louder until everyone is forced to flee...the CM's all have earplugs

This is an interesting one because Disney used to claim that on Main Street, all the bulbs were inspected nightly and that all the paint was stripped down and repainted on a monthly basis. It was the kind of thing they'd tell you on the behind the scenes tours when they started in the 80s.

Heh, "inspected" is different than "replaced". I know just working there when I did which lightbulbs would go for a while without being replaced.

I've never heard of that before.
I have never heard this story in relation to a public showing. The version I have heard is that it was a private showing before the 1964 - 1965 New York World's Fair and one of the visiting officials jokingly made the comment about recreating the assassination, a comment that angered Walt.

I seem to rile people up when I say this, but I doubt the story that the apartment inside Cinderella Castle was intended for Walt Disney, especially the story that it was not completed due to his death. Design work for the Magic Kingdom began in 1967 and there is no evidence that design work on Cinderella Castle began earlier while Walt was still alive.
