Isn't one of the upcoming Star Tours rides rumoured to use this technology?
Yes. Though Seaworlds Antartica has it already.

Did anyone ever confirm whether Disney bought Ratatouille and/or Mystic Manor from Oceaneering?
Putting that ride system into Antarctica has got to be one of the most nonsensical wastes of money I've ever seen in a theme park.
I really love the Tokyo version of the Heffalump and Woozles dream sequence especially with how guests are taken there and how you exit it. In Tokyo you would ride in reverse and you hear loud cuckoo noises as if Pooh is waking up which is mostly ignored in the other versions. The way the room turns black while you in Pooh's room is also superior.sorry, Honey Hunt in Japan v. Pooh in WDW
Did you ride it? I heard it was ridiculously underwhelming.....
Don't forget the dream sequence.Hunny Hunt is one of Disney's best attractions anywhere. It's an amazing experience that appeals to all ages. Mystic Manor is as well.
It's incredibly disappointing that this type of attraction has not come to North America. I remember how jaw dropping Hunny Hunt was. I was so impressed to see a dark ride evolved into such an amazing experience. The animatronics, the effects, the vehicles roaming "freely", the bouncing scene, etc.

I don't want anyone to take this as advocating the possible death of this ride, but....GMR has a nice, flat surface already. Just sayin'.This ride system has been around for more than a decade and is nothing new to Orlando. It's been utilized down the road at Sea World for a few years now. That being said, it does need an absolute flat surface for installation though.
That news is out.I don't want anyone to take this as advocating the possible death of this ride, but....GMR has a nice, flat surface already. Just sayin'.
I would imagine that, once all of the old GMR show scenes are removed, the floor would be almost completely resurfaced for the new ride path. Given that alot of the sets in GMR are a decent size, you could replace them with smaller sets for the new ride, and possibly have a meandering ride path that could make the new ride time even longer than GMR's.That news is out.
Though the floor will need some work doing to it. Most of the ride path will follow a new direction.
Some areas of the GMR could stay. Yup! Some of those systems follow a burried wire under the floor. Perfect time for installation since the floor needs a good resurfacing anyway. But I'd like to see a ride through the movies still, and not just screens but physical sets. There is great potential there and that's prime real estate!I don't want anyone to take this as advocating the possible death of this ride, but....GMR has a nice, flat surface already. Just sayin'.
Could it be surmised at this point that the Mickey ride is going to be comparable to Mystic Manor in terms of ride systems, effects, etc? Is this a sort of a preview of what we may get over here? Some areas of the GMR could stay. Some of the ride layout too.
Other areas would be radically different.
That remains to be seen. The ride system should be similar. There will be a lot of screens.Could it be surmised at this point that the Mickey ride is going to be comparable to Mystic Manor in terms of ride systems, effects, etc? Is this a sort of a preview of what we may get over here?
If so, this can be a real game changer since it would be that fresh, new state-of-the-art attraction we have all been clamoring for.
Not sure how it looks in person, but in the HD POV video of Mystic Manor that I saw, the screens used looked very crisp and clear, and the stuff displayed on the screens looked very realistic and did not look like they would take away the feeling of being immersed in the ride. If you can get that kind of quality from screens used in an attraction, I think a larger amount of screens could work. If WDI decides to use a cheaper type of screen to stay under budget, or the screens aren't maintained, then they will stick out like a sore thumb. That remains to be seen. It's not that spectacular. Mousetouille. Sit in your vehicle, with another family, watch Sorcerer's Apprentice on a very large screen with your 3D glasses on, get splashed in the face as your car spins while moving away from the screen.Could it be surmised at this point that the Mickey ride is going to be comparable to Mystic Manor in terms of ride systems, effects, etc?
