Mystery Project at Epcot

im so out of the loop on all the rumored stuff.

what is planned for DHS?
There were at least two major plans on the table for DHS in recent years that apparently got close to being greenlit and possibly more. One was a clone of Cars Land a while back (and various versions of this plan, some including a larger Pixar expansion even reviving the Monsters Inc Door Coaster). The next plan was some sort of Star Wars expansion near Echo Lake. I can't recall what the details were behind that one, but this was well known to the general Disney fanbase because it was actually teased at D23 last year by Imagineers.

Unfortunately it sounds like whatever was planned for DHS may have now been postponed indefinitely if not canceled outright. That is assuming Martin's information is up to date. I don't know whether Bolt has information that is newer and more accurate or how well respected his info generally is. But here's what Martin said over in the Universal Orlando sub forum-

Btw, DHS expansion has stalled.
Do tell.

But please don't say Star Wars.

Not this decade anyway.

If not this decade, then Star Wars Land will likely come around 2020/2021. That's the same timeframe from now (2014-2020) that it's taken from when Avatar was announced. (2011-2017)

You'd think they'd shoot for 2019 for DHS's 30th. It's still possible.

And plans can change. Martin and Bolt could be hearing either different things or now there are plans on the table again. Who knows? It's clear TDO's minds change on a whim. Things planned in 2013 seemed like a sure bet and then shelved. Now things seem to be heating up again. It happens, doesn't make either of them wrong.

This thread is hilarious. The desperation for new things and willingness to believe the smallest hint of an addition is getting out of control.

There's nothing funny about the desperation for new things:(. A reputable source drops a hint about something on twitter. I think it's worthy of discussion. I don't see anyone getting out of control, just an interesting discussion. To each their own I guess.

I understand HTF is reputable. It's just a general feel I get from a lot of people on a lot of different things around here lately. People are insanely desperate for something new and are willing to take and run with anything possible to get it. While I obviously know we want things to talk about, I just feel like it's talking in circles until eventually someone stumbles upon something.

I thought his tweet was pretty straightforward. It wasn't a big leap to assume he meant the rat ride in EPCOT.

Honestly future world is what needs TLC first. Energy, innoventions/figment, the end of spaceship earth, new soarin film(s)

World showcase can use some things too but take care of a few dinosaurs in future world, then take care of a few in the dinosaur area of AK too (and oh yeah, DHS needs a major facelift) lol
The Space Pavilion is the 2nd oldest Pavilion in Future World. The issue isn't the Dinosaurs in Future World other the actual Dinosaurs in Future World. The issue is that the changes that were made weren't as strong as they could be. Having said that, if Paris paid for the R & D of Ratatouille and they want to bring it stateside I really don't have opposition to that. Yes, I'd love to see a re-done Imagination Pavilion and Energy Pavilion but if France is the next move I'm more than willing to accept that.

Even though I agree Future World needs help, and the Rat ride would just be a bandaid (not saying we wouldn't get more but let's be real; this is costly) so I have mixed feelings on that aspect of it. But I really would love a new e-ticket and I'd be happy with this.

Besides Remy's been in France for years up until this year anyway ;)
I think the problems with Epcot aren't as bad as the problems in Hollywood Studios. They can go at Epcot enhancements in a piecemeal approach with Band Aid solutions provided that they're real band aids and not bargain basement solutions. A Ratatouille clone would not be a bargain basement option.

Something is definitely in the works as long as it doesn't get cancelled. Plus we do know soarin is going to happen unless that gets cancelled too (unless these two things are the same thing).

Well, I would love to see it happen. But how many times have we been told things are in the works, only to be left with nothing but a large thread full of dashed hopes? Personally would love this over the rumored Frozen takeover of Norway though.

Frozen shouldn't takeover Norway or even replace maelstrom .... there's a whole block of land between Norway and Mexico. If they must put frozen in Epcot instead of MK or DHS (where I think I should go), then simple expand Norway and not replace what is there today

God bless the "Ignore" button.

SOMETHING needs to be done to make Maelstrom a decent attraction again, but, you're right: Frozen ain't it.

A Ratatouille ride? Consider me interested!

What part of the area would they likely bulldoze?

A good suggestion I overheard on here would be to replace that area with a Discoveryland type area.

It would be the perfect blend between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
Sounds good, anything is better than more movie based homogenized garbage.
I have been a disney world but I do not care for the movies. My favorite attractions had movies made about them.
