My wifes one ( or two) MINOR Complaint(s)

How am I splitting hairs!!!! My point is simple - Disney Deluxe Resorts used to deliver a paper to my door, now they don't DELIVER it. When I pay alot of money to stay there I believe you should be offered the choice, most resorts elsewhere offer this service and they are cheaper than Disney.

I've stayed at the Boston Park Plaza and a Ritz Carlton within the past 6 months and neither delivers a paper to your room. However, they provide them at the front desk and at each elevator. Maybe years ago it was considered a luxury to have it delivered to your room, but today it seems much more of a waste. I'd guess it was done not as a cost-cutting measure but a way to reduce waste. I certainly appreciate the effort. I don't feel any reduction in luxury because I have to pick up a paper on the way to a meeting.

Well in your prior post you stated that you wanted the option of receiving a paper, which is why I quoted that post. That is what I was going by, which to me is different than saying you want it in your room. I also admitted I was splitting hairs, so you didn't need to point that out to me.

What you seem to be totally missing is that your need for a paper hand delivered to your room is not one the majority of people share. Probably only a very small number even notice that they no longer get one. It makes bad business sense to spend money doing something that only a very few customers care about. You think Disney should still offer it. But they don't. Is it really worth getting so worked up over?

Disney also used to drive every guest to their room after check in, but they don't do that anymore. I loved that! Disney also used to have teams of people who came out of the wood-work after it rained and dried off all of the benches in the blink of an eye. But they don't anymore. Sure it is a bit of a bummer, but none of it is worth getting that upset over. As with most businesses, Disney has cut back where they can. If only 1 person out of 500 wants a paper delivered to their room, then why do it? Why go to the added cost?

If getting a paper delivered to your room is so important to you, I trust you have written Disney about it? I'm curious as to what their response was.

I'm not missing the point, if so few people would choose to have them delivered, then I don't see a problem with delivering them to the small percentage that want them delivered. I haven't got worked up at all, I posted on this thread last Saturday and then again today! I simply agreed with someone else's opinion today, you are the one that seems worked up and has constantly posted here, as I stated in my original post the fact I won't have a paper delivered will not bother me at all! I think it is a shame but that's all!!! Why so sarcastic, I have no reason to write to Disney, I love WDW and nothing bothers me when I'm there. I have not come across as how you are making it seem! I have twice put jokey comments on this thread!

Relax a bit!

Maybe we should get that Clark Kent lookalike guy from that photo in that recent thread to deliver them, would only take him 5 minutes to do the whole resort :animwink:

"Is it a bird?"
"Is it a plane?"
"No it's Superman moving newspapers from outside the elevators to the hotel room doors"

That would be a superhero! He could also use his cape to give shelter to the people who want shade!!!

Word on the street is his arch nemesis from that other thread 'Just back from work and looking confused man' is the one who put a stop to the deliveries in the first place! Seriously though mate, try contacting Disney and explain you stay there fairly often and are extremely disappointed that the deliveries have stopped. If enough did this then maybe they would consider delivering to the door of those requesting papers in the future? While I don't think it will make much difference, it's worth a try and if nobody complains to them they'll assume they were right in the first place. Either way you'll know you tried.

I'm actually not that bothered, although I enjoyed reading the paper without getting dressed and leaving the room it won't interfere one bit with my enjoyment of WDW! I just stated that I thought that being asked when checking in if you wanted a paper was a good idea, but some people have to push and push! :brick:

I think 'just back from work and looking confused man' could be popular he just needs some good PR!

I think we are reading each other's posts totally wrong. I'm not worked up in the slightest, and I wasn't being sarcastic at all. And I did think you seemed really upset by the lack of a delivered newspaper, at least, that is how I was reading your posts. I figured if someone was that upset by Disney stopping the room delivery of the newspaper, they would have probably wrote and complained.

I must admit, I thought it kind of strange someone would be sooo mad about having to walk to get their newspaper.

No I'm not mad! WDW does not make me mad, it makes me happy! It was a perk I liked but i have never written a letter of complaint in my life, I certainly won't be writing one now!

Ok ,we love disney. Go every year. Hopefully will go a lot more BUT there are little( well maybe big) things ( complaints) my wife seems to bring up each year. I keep telling her" Well write them and let them know"

1....she believes EVERY room should get complimentary newspaper. Probably cost them zero...would it kill them to have everyone ( not just delux) get a newspaper?

2.....Her major complaint ( been brought up previously) is that she can not understand why the bus stops at all stars cant have an overhang while people are standing, sometimes 20-25 minutes in the hot sun or pouring rain. Again..would it break the disney bank to give all star customers some protection at bus stops?

Well has she written to them yet? Some of us are waiting to hear how this story ended!

When I visited in February, I noticed that you could get ethernet (for a big price) so I didn't look into it and used my phone sparingly for getting news. When I visited again in April I saw the notice for wi-fi, and figured it was not really free and didn't care.
Then, cough, cough, I realized that free wi-fi and mini fridges were going to be supplied at even the all star resorts.
If I have free wi-fi, (and the regular signal wasn't all that great, so wi-fi might be a big improvement) I'd rather just surf for news and news from where I live, rather than read a Florida newspaper, and then feel obligated to find the paper recycling bin.

I agree about the overhangs. Surely some Disney imagineer can design something entertaining and/or aesthetically pleasing.

When my DH and I go on vacation (to anywhere, but especially to WDW) we have a deal: no cell phones, no internet - and that would include newspapers. It's a VACATION - our time to leave the world behind!! Now, we've had to amend our deal when we go to WDW so that we can use our Lines app., but we don't answer calls, texts, or check email until we're on our way home.

You're in Florida - heat and sun is a given. If you're staying at a value resort, you're saving a little bit of money, so buy a good hat and some sunscreen.

I hope these two things didn't ruin your vacation - that would REALLY be a shame! :)
