My wifes one ( or two) MINOR Complaint(s)

If you stay at POP, yes there is a covered place for you to sit. If it is rush time and there are a lot of people you have to stand in the bus line which isn't covered. You can't sit in the covered area and jump up when the bus comes and expect to get on if the line is long.
All I'm saying is give your guests a little shade and make them comfortable while waiting for the bus. It is just an opinion and everyone has one.

Makes sense to me, and the people who disagree don't seem to have even stayed at POP or other values. I guess if you're paying less, they want you to have fewer amenities, and to be less comfortable than they are in their covered bus stops. But they should realize it doesn't help anyone to have more sweaty/smelly/cranky people in the parks. After all, deluxe, mod & value guests all have to stand in line next to each other at attractions and sit next to each other at shows all day.

I thought all those sweaty/smelly/cranky people came from France. I didn't realize they were from the value resorts.

Wrong. I have stayed at the Sports once, and the Music 3 times, and have another trip to the Sports booked. But yes, the reason why the values cost less than the mods is fewer amenities!! BINGO!!!!!

Again, you will be out in the sun in the parks as well, so if you get cranky from the sun, then you will be sweaty/smelly/cranky anyway.

You are going to make yourself right no matter what. You totally miss the point. You are a know it all. If shade is an amenity, then let's take the pools away. That is a bigger amenity than a little shade. It is a mute point unless Disney decides to install overhangs at the value hotel bus stops. This point has already been argued in another thread. Let it go, enough.

According to Dictionary.com:
a·men·i·ty   [uh-men-i-tee, uh-mee-ni-]
noun, plural a·men·i·ties.
2. any feature that provides comfort, convenience, or pleasure.

So, you see, this person did not miss the point. You, sir, are the one missing the point. An amenity is ANY feature that provides comfort, convenience, or pleasure. I'm assuming this overhang we are discussing would provide comfort and convenience, no? So it is defined as an amenity, as is the pool provided. People would be much less likely to stay at any hotel without a pool. Therefore, Disney sees this as a necessary amenity. Meanwhile, Disney feels that it can reserve other amenities, such as overhangs, for moderate and deluxe resorts.

Her major complaint ( been brought up previously) is that she can not understand why the bus stops at all stars cant have an overhang while people are standing, sometimes 20-25 minutes in the hot sun or pouring rain. Again..would it break the disney bank to give all star customers some protection at bus stops?

This was the original comment. It's not only a reasonable comment, but it's consistent with common sense and advice from the medical profession. Recently WDW has shown they're willing to provide more amenities at mods (queen beds) and values (refrigerators). Feedback like this can be useful in helping them decide what other upgrades they might want to make. And this one would be less expensive to provide than thousands of queen beds and refrigerators. Of course values will always have fewer amenities, but we're not talking about providing water slides and table service restaurants. This is about as basic as it gets when it comes to providing basic services to your paying guests.

I guess I will just never get too upset at having plenty of shade at the bus stops even though it isn't directly over the line. A point was made that you can't just sit in the shade and walk over to the line and expect to get on the bus...why not? You've been on a bus, you know how big it is, you know how many people can fit on it, if the line up gets huge spend some time in the shade and then get in line for a lesser wait.

Or if you are the one person in the party who needs the shade (occassionally my mother likes to rest in the shade while the remaining 21 people in our party are fine) put everyone else in line, you sit in the shade then you can join them.

Like I said, it is the same to me as standing a few feet away from an ice-cream cart and complaining that Disney won't let you have an ice-cream because they out the cart wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over there and you are standing here and that Disney should follow you around with an ice-cream cart all the time just in case you need one.

The shade is there - some people don't need it since they are prepared to be outside all day at the parks, if this is a big deal, pay for a moderate resort, a rental car or a taxi.

So, you get to have your say, but I'm not allowed? Why does not seeing things your way make me a know it all? Someone made the comment that people who don't see the shaded bus stops as a necessity must have never stayed at a value resort. I am allowed to say that they are wrong about that, and point out that I have stayed at value resorts many times, am I not?

Also, as you noted Disney is the one who gets to decide what is a necessity and what is not. And at least for now they have deemed covered bus stops unnecessary. And you may have noticed they have deemed pools necessary for all levels of resorts, but slides and hot tubs unnecessary. It is up to them. And it is up to the guests to pick which things they find necessary in a resort. See how that works!

People still read newspapers? I recall a stat from a few years ago that 12% of Americans read a national paper. That may have declined since then. If you take the 12% from the "population" of a resort and subtract from that the amount of international visitors who may have no interest in American news not to mention this stat may be a few years old and have dropped a bit you may have...say 8% of people wanting a newspaper.

Not worth ordering and delivering something that 92% of the people there aren't going to use. Seems like a waste to me especially when she can get a free paper, she just has to pick it up herself.

Hence why WiFi is going into all resorts!!!!

This is essentially what happened at Disney as well as many other resorts all over the country. 95% of the free papers wound up in the trash, unread. .

Thank you!!! It is an incredible waste.
When traveling to a resort that still has this practice I tell the front desk not to deliver them. News is everywhere to the point that I have seen articles in Newspapers that we news 2 days prior. Internet, CNN , FOX MSNBC...Reason why Wifi is available and now free just about everywhere. I really enjoyed having it at Coronado Springs this past weekend. Had to change reservations for dinner Saturday night and 1 ,2 3, with my I pad. Not to mention to follow the weather updates on my phone with the possibilitiy of the tropical storm force winds and rain. Oh and the Disney resorts had expanded channel line up on the guest room televisions as well.

Yes they have! You have no idea how freaking happy I was to have the Discovery channel on my TV!

ahhh...never made the connection. Valid point! Why need a print newspaper that Disney decides on when you get get all of your local, national and international news in your room on your own time anyway.

It was nice to have several different channel available this past weekend. Plus quick access to NOAA to see where Beryl was heading. Really windy Sunday. Got stuck in the down poors on Monday at HWS...Thanks to Wifi I had my ponchos handy.

So i didnt have time to read the whole posting but......on the discussion of coverage over the bus waiting area...there may be a solution.... there is a HUGE HAT that some one randomly dropped in DHS that would make great shade and nobodoy would miss

on the newspaper thing.... they should go the way of other hotels.... you only get it if you ask. I worked for marriott for years we just asked at check in if they wanted a newspaper if they said no we took 1 dollar off there bill....i doubt disney would take anything off the bill but it would make things easier. Actually at booking you could check a box for it. They would prolly put all newspaper people near eachother to make drop off easier.

Exactly, I said this a few pages in, all the resorts I stay in give the option of receiving a paper. With Disney being the most expensive one I expect the same service, if Im staying at a Deluxe resort I want a bit of luxury, the only positive of staying at a Deluxe should not be location only.

You do get the option of getting a paper, you just have to walk a short ways to pick one up. I know I'm splitting hairs here, but I kind of think you are too. You can get a paper, but it is the going to get it you don't like. It is not like Disney doesn't offer them.

It is the same thing with bus stops that are under a shelter. Disney has them, but you have to stay at an upgraded resort in order to get one.

How am I splitting hairs!!!! My point is simple - Disney Deluxe Resorts used to deliver a paper to my door, now they don't DELIVER it. When I pay alot of money to stay there I believe you should be offered the choice, most resorts elsewhere offer this service and they are cheaper than Disney.

You seem to be splitting hairs, the whole point is not having it delivered, saying I can walk to get one is childish, why should resorts supply food then? Surely you can walk down the road to supermarket and get food! You seem to be very argumentative. You have been the one who can't keep off this thread and everyone else seems to be in the wrong.

Ok ,we love disney. Go every year. Hopefully will go a lot more BUT there are little( well maybe big) things ( complaints) my wife seems to bring up each year. I keep telling her" Well write them and let them know"

1....she believes EVERY room should get complimentary newspaper. Probably cost them zero...would it kill them to have everyone ( not just delux) get a newspaper?

2.....Her major complaint ( been brought up previously) is that she can not understand why the bus stops at all stars cant have an overhang while people are standing, sometimes 20-25 minutes in the hot sun or pouring rain. 1. My guess would be delivery costs.

2. No good answer, maybe it would throw off the themeing. One thing is for certain though, you get what you pay for. Including at Disney.
