OKAY... first of all i want to say that i just got back from WDW this morning and i had a great time... now i spent the entire day at EPCOT yesterday (opening to end of ROE) and i was able to do almost everything and i thought a lot about "project gemini". first of all people need to realize that the articles that Jim Hill and Al Lutz write are RUMORS they should not be taken litarally. many things they write about are embeleshed upon and not allways fully reasechred. i believe many of these ideas (like the rainforest coaster) were concept ideas from WDI but they can and probably have been altered, changed, or taken out altogether. (if you have not yet i reccomend you read The Imagineering Way which gives an in depth look at the creative processes and procedured of WDI. its a GREAT book for every avid disney fan). Now what many people dont realize is epcot is going to have to change. many people (like my grandparents) who have been attending the park since it has been open, are not going anymore because they have seen everything many many times and get bored seing it again. although original attractions have changed (EX. LISTEN to the land -> LIVING with the land, UOE -> EEA) new attractions such as SORIN' will help to bring attendance up. also if you look at future world many things will not be changed so drasticly. there are already many trees and plants all around FW that enhance its potential. i doubt WDI would allow the adition of many more trees because that would just turn it into a forest. also the name change to "DISCOVERY LAND" makes sence because there is nowhere in futreworld (eccept for mabye M:S and portions of LWTL that show the future) also all of the marketing and merchandise now says somthing like "EPCOT our land of discovery". I do not believe nor agree with the RUMOR that SE will be turned into a roler coaster like ride. SE is the CENTERPEICE of epcot and it should NOT be destroyed. as for Food Rocks going dark (sorry thats theater jargin for closing) soon that also appears to be true b/c when i was there yesterday i saw a land host telling ppl to go see FR because there was a VERY GOOD CHANCE that it would be closing SOON. never the less there was less than 10 ppl in the theater (tear). i believe that whatever project gemini will bring it will keep with the integraty of EPCOT and it will hopefully enhance the park for present and future generations. it would also be great to see somewhere in the park at least an exibit if not a ride feauring walt's ORIGINAL dream for it to be a living breathing COMMUNITY where people worked and lived (imagineers if your listining theres a SPARK) because NOWHERE in all of epcot does it mention the original vision for a "CITY OF TOMMOROW". what we all have to realize is wether we like it or not Gemini is going to happen and we can only hope and pray and write letters and protest for the best.
p.s. sorry for the length i didnt realize when i started that it would be that long lol
