My September trip - so close yet so far away,,,

I am now 37 days away from being back in my happy place and I cannot wait for our departure day to arrive. Totally enjoying summer, but why can't September 12th just get here already?!? Although I love planning trips, I am getting tired of looking at my ADR's and plans multiple times everyday - there is absolutely nothing else to tweak. I'm just so ready to get off the ME, enjoy my resort, the parks, and finally get to eat the food I've been drooling over for many months.

When your trip seems close and far away at the same time what do you do to get yourself to departure day without driving yourself nuts?

I throw myself into other projects- redecorate a room in the house, crochet a new blanket, work to do a massive change in the garden, etc. If I stay busy then it is all good!

First let me start by saying congratulations! I hope you enjoy your trip!

Next, don't take this the wrong way but........MAN am I jealous of you! HA!

Seriously, i know what you're going through.. seems like that last month just drags on. Take satisfaction though in knowing you leave soon. I mean, my next trip is not until Sept of 2011. Now, change that 1 month into 1 year and 1 month and i'm sure that has to help!

Post some picks and a report when you get back and have a great time!

I'm in a similar spot myself. I've got 26 days til my September trip & all my old "time passing" tricks aren't working anymore. I used to vent my enthusiasm to my wife, but now she says it makes time go by slower for her so now I just get 'the look'.

I figured lurking here would help and to some extent it has, as well as making it worse too. I thought diving into my work here at the office would help, but have noticed lately I burn through all the work so fast these days, I end up with nothing to do but surf the forums all afternoon.

And to top it all off, my wife & I are taking my parents, who've never been before. So now, every morning, like clockwork, I get a text from my mother with one of her oh-so-clever countdown jokes: "Get your kicks on Route 66" and "Heinz 57 sauce", etc. They used to be cute, but this close to the trip they just make things worse.

So if anyone has any other tips & tricks on time travel, please share. It feels like my wifes 'look', moms counting down, and the lack of busy work are all making these last few weeks d-r-a-g like never before.

I know how you feel. We arrive on September 13, 2010 for 8 day/8 nights. Can't wait to get on the road with the DWF and be driving down. I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa or in our case the Mouse. It seems like this last little stretch appears to be the toughest wait of all.

We'll also be there this Sept! Best time to be at WDW, plus get to see the MSEP after 21 years! Arriving on the 25th and departing on the 30th, driving down from PA like we always do. Staying at Pop for the first time....heard so many great things about that place! Have all our ADR's down, doing free dining for the first time. It's going to be the slowest month of the year coming up...how many people here going around the same time can agree with me?!?!?! :D

Same here, leaving Sept. 18. I've pulled out the suitcases and started throwing things in I don't use anywhere but there....back pack, ponchos, etc. I tweak my packing list, listen to ALOT of my Disney CD's I've made and radio stations, sit on this site more than normal, annoy any one that will listen about the upcoming trip and get a little more into what I want to get done each day of the trip. I hear you though and the waiting game is tough, especially in that last month. Have a great trip!

We have 34 days:sohappy:. To make the days go by faster, I've been trying to pack something everyday. I've made a travel checklist and know exactly what we need, maybe this will help in not forgetting anything :p. I've confirmed, typed, & printed our dining reservations on a notecard. I figured it was small enough to fit in the DH's wallet. I am checking for updates/rehabs daily. I just can't wait any longer...:o

:ROFLOL:I went to lunch with DH today and I reminded him how many days we have, he politely put this silverware down and said, "yes I know, one less day from the last time you told me." If I'm not talking about it at work, I'm checking for updates. I'm glued to the computer at night researching for things I don't know about WDW. I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Our next trip is in Sept. '11 also! We are 407 days away. I'll actually be excited when we hit the one year exactly away date. Is that sad? Oh well, I don't care anyway. BTW I'm from NJ too. (Although not an Eagles fan, go Dolphins! WooHoo!):sohappy:

Sounds a little like me. I have tons of audio in my iTunes (most of which came from Mousebits), plus all my CD's from the parks. I plan on getting a MSEP CD this time to add to it. Still keep downloading more audio and have way more than when I last made any CD's. lol.

Of course I come on here alot. It's interesting to see who's going to be there when we're there and such. Hey if anyone see the guy in my avator pic, that's me! :)

I'm the exact same way! My DH loves Disney, but thinks I'm in another league of obsession (granted, given I've gone all my life and he wasn't introduced to WDW until he met me).

Have a wonderful trip as well!!!

The last stretch definitely seems to be the hardest. I was fine until a few days ago when I could finally say "we'll be in WDW next month". Now I just want/need to be there ASAP.

I'm really excited for MSEP - saw it when I was a little girl, but don't remember it. Spectro has my heart, but it will definitely be neat to see something different.

Sounds similar to my situation! I first saw it 21 years ago (I would have been five going on six). Just can't wait to see it again....looks better than ever with Tink and the LED's.

We'll be there at the same time. We're doing Disney from the 15th-24th.

GOd I get very OCD as the trips gets closer, especially when we can say "we're leaving next month"!

Which we are too!!! We get there on the 17th of Sept!!! We've been in the watching previous trip dvd mode....Usually what the 6 year asks for at every morning this week(I guess I dont help when I say "guess where we'll be 6 weeks from today?'... I find I look even more so on WDWMagic and other disney related(gasp yes I know ) to find out anything new,,,,which over nite, not too much usually happens! (usually) ...See though at least you can come here and we can help you through...

I have mygirls bdays coming up in two weeks so I'll obsess over that and then go into overdrive OCD as disney is getting closer!

We have 41 more days!!!!

I totally agree with you! We usually have the York Fair here in York at the beginning of the month. When that happens, Disney is usually right behind! (has been the last several trips that we went in Sept) By the end of the fair, it will be one week until we're there and by that time, that will be the SLOWEST week out of this whole year. I try to make the best of it as much as I can.
