Ok so I know this sounds horrible and I would never entertain this idea but my fiance and I are looking into it. We have had this trip planned since march. She was expecting from what her friends told me to get her engagment ring in WDW so I stepped it up and gave it to her for graduation. It drained the bank! Now we have just been hit with every road block imaginable trying to pay for this trip in sept by the 45days due date. which is in like 30 days. Her car has broken down, we had a death in the family, i was out sick from work for a few days, its just a nightmare.

or how about has disney ever extended the 45 day payment time for anyone?

oh I agree... I wouldn't be putting the 100 down though, I'd be saving more aggressive than that but I know what you mean.

Unfortunately sometimes people don't realize how quickly the interest can build up - and end up in a hole they can't dig out of. OP may be fiscally savvy - but he referenced graduation and a lot of times kids just out of school fall victim to this and end up in a lifetime of debt.

I use my (Disney) credit card for EVERYTHING - but pay in full each month. The reward dollars make me feel like they are paying ME to use the card.

This can especially be true with airfare, you're saving but all of a sudden you see a good deal pop up online... don't quite have the full amount but wait and then the price jacks up again.

I am playing the airfare waiting game right now...it's so stressful waiting for the deal and risking that prices increase instead!!

As someone who used to be very irresponsible with money and would do this very thing, all I can say is, don't. I've been very fortunate that we can take vacations and pay up front for them, but if I wasn't able to, as much as it would pain me, I wouldn't go. Being in debt is a horrible feeling, and if you're in a situation where you can't afford a trip, then you should simply put the money aside until you've got enough, then go. I know it's easier said than done, but vacations are a luxury, not a necessity. Not to hijack this thread, but honestly, this is exactly why we haven't bought into DVC. I guess it's personal preference and beliefs.

Do you possibly have a close relative that would float you a loan for a short time to help you out? I know people say borrowing money from family isn't the best option, but if you are responsible and will pay them back it could be a better option than dealing with the bank or using high interest credit cards. They certainly don't care about you and you could find yourself deeper in debt with interest charges. Certainly do not want to start a life out together with financial problems hanging over you that would bring stress to a new marriage.

All very good points, we are planning a week long trip to disney for xmas 2013...cant book a room until august 17th..and a villa probably not til even later..we estimate the trip to be around 15k..we are setting aside 800 plus more a month to pay for the trip..Ill pay the down payment on August 17th and then funnell the money to disney once a month. We just decided last week (DW and I ) to make a weekend getaway to Disney just the two of us over laborday..this on the heels of a week long trip with my DD to vermont, maine, NY as a graduation present..so we decided to stay at the POFQ vs a deluxe..this trip totally unplanned will be paid for from our disposable income we set asisde each week..

I got that too - but it was only for the month of August and we're going in November. The wait continues...
ahhh - I see. FWIW we were waiting for the fares in September to go down and they weren't budging. We finally decided to fly out of Hartford, since it would be cheaper, even spending the night and leaving the car for the week. The day I was going to book it, the Providence fares went down, then a week later they went down again, so I was able to get $99 fares. They're back up again, so just keep an eye on it every day.

I check at least 3 times a day. I'm OCD like that! I'm happy with the fare down ($130) but don't like the fare back ($175 for the last flight out). I was actually thinking of booking the round trip with an earlier flight for the return trip to lock in the $130 flight there, and then I can always switch to the later flight back either if the fare changes or just suck it up and pay the $175.

Just under 1k a month disposable income! Gotta be nice. Cant wait for child support to end for me. Gonna be one heck of a pay raise.

I took a 10 day trip with 7 people didn't cost even close to 15k.

Disney lets you put your vacation on lay-a-way if you need to, I would never put a vacation on a credit card or take out a loan for it. I would put airfare on a credit card just because of the volatile nature of prices, but thats it.

Going to be 6 of us..maybe 7. Two rooms at the boardwalk..or one 2 bedroom villa for 7 days over the holidays..so the rate is higher...Deluxe Dining plan for each person...5 day park hopper plus one da at Universal IAO..plus what we are budgeting for travel..driving..and spending money =15k approximate

OP: Don't do it!

Put the trip off until you can save and pay for it. You don't want to start your marriage with a loan that paid for something, but you have nothing to show for it (like a car, house, etc).

Besides, the longer you wait, the more new stuff will be open.

That is a good approximate. Kind of figured if your spending 15k your not staying at the All Stars.

Thank you all for the imput. We have been in the past very good with money and budgets. We will have the money by the time we travel in Spet, just not with in the 45days they ask for. I have appealed to Disney for the extension and am waiting to see what they say.
We are getting into the wedding planning now so you can imagine all we are seeing is $$$$ all around. We both made the decision that we would rather cut a few corners on the wedding then give up this trip. It has just been so long since we were there and this was suppose to be a kick off for a fabulous year.

It would be such a stress reducer for us if this trip was off the table but I feel the harder we fight and save for it, the more enjoyable it can be

I do this too. We are not going until Christmas 2013 and I already have 1,150 Disney dollars. In the next 18 months, I hope to have $1800+. It doesn't cover the whole bill, obviously, but it sure helps reduce my costs.

Why not save longer and make it a super magical honeymoon? Then, no debt...no stress over saving for a WDW trip AND a honeymoon...and less to deal with while also planning a wedding.

We honeymooned there, and it was a nice relief after the wedding day itself.
