My magic+ testing report

This test is not allowing regular FPs at all. They are using the Magic Bands which don't work with the FP kiosks.
...
During the test those involved could get 3 FP+ in addition to as many regular paper FP as possible.
?
Yeah it's not ideal, but if you get to the park early in the morning and have your fast passes scheduled in the afternoon even at a different park it works fine.
If you don't mind my asking, how much time in advance did you have to reserve FP+? What restrictions, if any, were placed on what you could pick from?

The testers also have the regular Key to the World card which will let them get regular paper FP in addition to their 3 FP+
This would have to be the case until every restaurant, cart, shop, and hotel room on site works with MagicBands. Which they don't. Slow rollout...

This or I could see them making it where deluxe guests can choose three from column a, if they want, moderate guests can choose two from column a, and value guests can choose only one from column a, something like that.

As for the cast members suggesting that the people say three fastpasses isn't enough, of course they want it to be higher. They stand to lose when they come into the parks, because no one knows the fastpass system like a CM.

I remember reading earlier this year that they might stagger the number of FP+ based on your resort category (i.e. - Deluxe gets the most, then moderate, then value and off site would have the least). Not sure where that would put DVC (with Deluxe maybe). If I remember the reasoning behind it, they wanted to reward those paying the highest but I have a feeling that won't go over too well.

Reports elsewhere are saying that several are pocketing the bands as some guests are refusing to wear them. Not a big shocker whatsoever. A family I know said they did the same. They also stated that their FP+ would show on the computer and phone but the ride would not recognize them having one at the designated time.

IMO, it shouldn't matter what a guest pays for hotel. It should be tied into the park admission like it has been. We all pay a lot. Although I'm sure there are people who stay at deluxe resorts who would say differently.

Sorry if my post was unclear. I'll explain it more fully.

The park hopping strategy with the FP+ system would be to tour the first park immediately after opening before the lines get too long using the Standby lines. Lines typically are shortest for the first hour or two after opening. Then, hop over to the second park in the afternoon, if you have later FP+ selections for that park.

For example, be at DHS for rope drop, use the Standby lines for TSM, RnRC, TOT, and STII. Depending on your pace, you could be done with these by 11 AM. (I've done them even faster.) If you want, then watch one of the DHS shows (which handle lots of people), perhaps have lunch, and then hop over to Epcot where, hopefully, you have afternoon or early evening FP+ selections for either TT or Soarin'.

The key is to be able to get "good" FP+ return times for popular attractions. However, attraction capacity suggests getting "good" FP+ return times for popular attractions might be difficult.

Note that I use "good" in quotes because different people will have different definitions of what constitutes "good" FP+ experience return windows. Like FP, it appears FP+ will provide guests with a return window of about 1 hour.

I am saving this as I think this is good logic. I am an early riser and have also been able to do the 3 main attractions at DHS by 1030am. I do not mind standing in line for the rest of the DHS attractions. If your logic is correct - then I could head to Epcot (which I normally do around 2pm) and use my FP+ for Soarin and Test Track. So if this logic is correct then park hoping would become more managable as Soarin line is unbareable!

Unfortunately a small portion of guests currently use fast passes to their maximum. They need to limit to 3 because way more guests will be using it and the overall inventory will need to be better managed.

But they are adding a bunch of new FP+ options. So, even if more people are getting FP+, there's also a greater number available.

I'm hoping that even if the limit stays at 3 per day, that there is some mechanism to get more FP+ the day of. If they have extra FP+ capacity that is unused, I don't see why they couldn't have some way to have people be able to get them in addition to their 3 a day.

I guess my biggest concern is the 180 days. Because w/the way they do my husbands vacation bidding sometimes we only know 90 days in advance.

I think, that as a family that can only afford short visits every few years, we MIGHT be able to make the new system work for us. We make sure to hit the highlights in each park and fill the rest of the day with parades and meeting characters. But as our five year old grows and wants to ride more popular rides, I can envision the frustration that most everyone else has expressed. I just hope they work the kinks out quickly. No one here on this board wants to abandon their Disney vacations over this ridiculous junk, myself included.

Working out the kinks quickly is not the Disney way... At least going by the way the website keeps malfunctioning, which was technically an upgrade from a website that was always malfunctioning :(. Guess at least there is something to be said for consistency ;)

You're right about the website for sure! I had to make my ADR's by phone for my March '13 trip, whatever month that was since the website was crazy, so that was at least when, December?

until MM+ is fully rolled out we will have no idea what to fully expect. That's kind of scary. The secretiviness doesnt serve them.any benefit. As far as the OP saying the bands are comfortable, I have to respectfully disagree. I was allowed to try one on in May. It wasnt the worst, but the chip in the middle was blocky and the corners of it jammed into my wristbone as I handed my wife the camera to take a picture of me. Taking my back pack off for the photo had the same affect on my wrist. I wasnt in any severe pain but it would definitely get irratating.
