Ok...call me dumb and confused. Haha. Question...

1. If Iam going in October ( according to some cm, this system will not be up by October?).....Will it be easier to get my fast passes in the park( the easy, old fashioned way)?!

This RFID thing and Microsoft's 24 hour surveillance thing built into the new Xbox really seem to me like corporate america is going too far. Seems like WDW is going to become nothing more than a cattle farm where Disney's marketing team studies your spending patterns and then sells the data to other firms.

The one thing im really taking away from all that info is the overwhelming feeling that they are gonna use Rfid to keep you in ONE park for as long as possible.

I know thats no big surprise but it seems to me anyway that they figured out that they make more money by keeping you on a base ticket as opposed to Park Hopping.

I dont do much park Hooping but like to spend a day at Mk and then monorail down to Epcot for dinner once or twice during my stay ...Im NOT paying two gates per day to eat someplace other than where I spend my day.

anyone else see this differently???

I doubt that guests will never again be able to get FastPasses in multiple parks on the same day. However, I would imagine considering how long it's taking to get FP+ rolled out in its current iteration, that such elements would have likely pushed back the rollout so much that they likely want to put that in at a later date if that is, indeed, the plan.

Microsoft cancelled that 24-hour thing due to overwhelming backlash from consumers (and because Sony openly bashed them by comparing the XBox One's 24-hour verification and non-game sharing stance to the PS4's non-existent policies on both of those issues).

I know that but you still must have the Kinect camera hooked up at all times

When does all this start? My AP needs to be renewed this month and the website for disney does not offer much clarity in details either

They don't know, so they can't possibly tell you. Best guess is sometime next year. They say, privately anyway, early. I say late.

You absolutely hit on something. Park-hopping crowds MK and EPCOT and they want folks to spend time at Studios and DAK without giving them enough to see or do. This is absolutely designed to help force folks who might do one of those parks from say 9-2 and then hop over to MK to stay later and not hop at all.

The difference that I see between the two is that the Kinect would be spying on everything that you say or do in your own home. When you're at the parks, you're out in public....where there is no expectation of privacy.

Since it appears that this app is going to be hugely important in the coming months, anyone know if the Android app is going to get an update ever? I can't seem to comprehend how a quad-core phone takes a solid 40 seconds to load a page on My Disney Experience.

Sony did a fine job. They're not exactly innocent themselves, but that "How to Share PS4 Games" video was fantastic.

I can forgive the Mouse a lot, but this Orwellian manipulation of what WE want to do on OUR vacation, how and when we want to do it, is really, really off-putting. Once we get Disneyland under our belts in January - thankfully free from this craziness for the moment anyway - it's hard to know when Orlando and our beloved Beach Club will see us again.

The brains at Disney do realize they could have accomplished this using a fraction of the $$$ spent on this MM+ nonsense; its called building new attractions.

The more this whole project is discussed, the more absurd it becomes.

Sooo...

From an inside source at WDW:

FP+ in a Nutshell:
-60 days from arrival, plus 10 days with resort reservation like dining. Guest selects park. Then their three preferred experiences (attractions, food, spectaculars, activities) and then the MyDisneyExperience (MDX) gives up to four groups (early, mid, late, all day) of their choices and/or substitutions. There will be activities that are FP+ only - no standby option. The immediate party then has the same set of FPs and from there the Guest can modify individuals if they want different experiences/times. You can also then copy with friends not traveling in the same reservation or under control of/created by the primary.

Is this part still in play?
There will be activities that are FP+ only - no standby option.

I think the key is those activities haven't been announced. I think the idea is they are using it as a way to encourage folks to use the system, kind of like annual passholder only events or whatever. Not 100% sure what kind of "activites" those would be. I'd guess they'd use it for things like say soft openings (instead of opening to everyone, only people who used the FP+ reservation system to reserve their spot).

Does anyone know if the MyMagic+ system (bands, FP+) are going to be available to those staying off-site? Or is this something for resort-guests only?

It will be available to everyone, eventually, though probably at a slight cost for those staying off property. Oh, and you fashionistas may like this tidbit, D&B are working on designs for MagicBands and accessories (sorry if that was already posted, don't remember seeing it being put out there).

My guess on the "FP+ only" is that it means the things like parade viewing spots, fireworks viewing spots, Fantasmic seating, etc. They mean that access to those "experiences" can only be done by making a FP+ reservation.
I highly doubt that it means that there will be entire *attractions* that are FP+ Only...

I certainly hope not. The day Pirates of the Caribbean becomes "FP+ only" is the day I start booking all of my Disney vacations in California.

It has been speculated that the FP+ only expieriences would probably be just special meet and greets. This would make sense for the living character initiative since for Mickey to know your name and talk to you, you would need to have a MDX account setup.
