My Feelings on Holiday Crowds as a Cast Member

I have encountered a few not so nice CMs but of all of the trips and all of the CMs I would say I have been treated very well. Everyone has a bad day now and again and that is fine with me.:)

I think you're being overly literal when you quote "I could have anyone escorted off property". My reading of the quote is a more reasonable one, that the poster could have anyone escorted off, based on the assumption that said "anyone" had clearly gone "beyond the line". Your extrapolation that the quote inferred that he could have everyone [any individual at all, regardless of circumstance] escorted out is entirely unrealistic.

You are correct. When i said being rude i implied crossing the line rude like being racist, sexist, foul language, etc.

wow... i at least skimmed through every post. people can be pretty horrible.

i think the guest these days feel some sort of entitlement these days. but that happens with many things that have been around for a while. when cars first came to the public, people would wear suits and drive... just to drive. no radio, poor roads and all. when airlines first started up and people just started to fly, they would suit up and the flight itself was and experience to behold. now i would see people fly in sweats, pajamas, or just really sloppily. it appears when DL first opened, people would wear their sunday's best just to go to the park and be in awe of everything and feel priviledged to be there. while i admit i'll go to the park in a polo or tee and shorts with sneakers due to weather, people don't appreciate things like that after some time.

having worked at a theme park (six flags in san antonio, tx) and restaurants as a server in the past, they have similarities that you see as far as the guests you take care of. the ones who'll appreciate you the most are the regulars (AP holders, frequent diners who go m-th), and the ones who will give you the most problems are people who show up for ameteur night (holidays, weekends in the summer for the park, and fri sat night diners and people who come out for mothers/ fathers day).

what is a CP? since you bring up people who are younger maybe it's college program. its true that being older helps due to more life experience. when i was 15 just starting at six flags (which was my first job) i had probably overall my most horrifying experience with a guest. i served a souvenir drink to a girl and she left. 20 min later she returned to show me a cricket in her drink (it was in the ice bin. one of the things i didnt like about working in a restaurant open to the outside is that something like this is even possible). i had no idea what to do. i freezed and wanted to cry honestly, and she wasnt even mad, just like shocked and/ or disgusted. my manager comped her drink, threw her cup away and gave her a new cup with a refill. i know i'd be able to handle it better today.

theme parks that are super busy in the heat of the summer can bring out some of the ugliest behavior in people. while i don't condone it, its impossible to avoid. the only time i should have been offended made me laugh. i was a manager at this point and a guest complained about something i don't remember. the employee he was complaining to said she could get the managet but didnt wanna talk to me because i was mexican (latino yes, mexican no). it made me laugh because i have never been treated in a racist way before and it shocked me.

killing a guest with kindness is the best advice. some disgruntled guests look for an employee to snap to get something out of it. you just gotta smile and them no reason to complain and hopefully make them happy and turn their day
