My Dining reservations..thoughts, comments..suggestions?

How's it going, everyone? Well..I just confirmed all of my reservations for my trip next month to the Caribbean Beach Resort. I'm 45 days away..:sohappy:

CBR was a tough choice. The tripadvisor reviews are not that great but I figure I won't be in my room that much anyway.

Only a few more things left to do...

Pick one more restaurant for dinner

So I'm on the Disney dining plan +. I'm staying 7 days and 6 nights but was told the meal plans only count for however many nights you stay on-site. Is this correct?

A little background info on me. I visited Disney for the first time in '04. It was my senior class trip and we stayed off-site. We were only at Disney for two days so it wasn't a lot of time to cover everything. I didn't even make it to Animal Kingdom.

I've also visited in '08 and '09 but still never stayed on-site and took advantage of all the perks such as the park hopper and extra magic hours. I also enjoyed Typhoon Lagoon and may do Blizzard Beach this time. I didn't add the water park & more option because I'd rather enjoy the parks and my resort has plenty of pools to cool off in.

So here's my lineup for dining.

-Monday evening I will probably be enjoying the grounds and go to Downtown Disney somewhere for dinner and pay out of pocket or eat at Shutters which is the main restaurant at my resort.

-Tuesday evening I will be eating at Boma. I've heard many good things and look forward to it.

-Wed will be Citricos..again, another place that had great reviews.

-Thursday is the Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic package. It only uses 1 sit- down credit so that was what I was aiming for even though Brown Derby sounds incredible. I've never seen Fantasmic so I'm looking forward to it.

Fri- I will be dining for lunch at La Cellier steakhouse @ Epcot. I could only get lunch. Everything else was booked. Can I still get a decent steak and that S'more dessert for lunch? I wasn't sure how that worked. I was also surprised to hear that it only uses 1 sit-down credit vs 2 for lunch.

So that leaves 1 more sit-down credit for dinner. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should eat during my last evening at Disney?

As far as table service meals. I guess I'll just go with the flow but I'm open to suggestions for that as well. I heard that snacks are anything under $4 or so and the turkey legs don't count. But some table service meals include a drink, turkey leg and an apple or something so I have to find a place that does that!

Guess it depends. What do you plan to do on your last day? Which park do you plan to be in at around the time you're going to want to eat? What type of meal do you think you'll want-buffet or not buffet?

Yes, the dining plan only gives you credits for the number of NIGHTS you'll be there...so you'll have 6 table service, counter service and snack credits.

I can't really comment on your reservations - I've only been to Boma and Le Cellier. Personally, and I know we're in the great minority, we didn't care for Boma. But it's worth the trip to see Animal Kingdom Lodge. As for Le Cellier, it's 1 table service credit for lunch now (I think you mis-typed), and I'm pretty sure they do serve steak, s'mores, etc. at lunch. Check the menus on this site or on allears.net to make sure.

As for your last credit, I'll echo kstella...where will you be on your last day? Keep in mind that there may be limited availability at 45 days away for an ADR.

Thanks for the info. I will be sure to let everyone know my thoughts on Boma. Ya..i made an error with La Cellier I meant to say 1 for lunch and 2 for dinner. There are so many great places to eat and it so difficult to narrow it down. :brick:

I'm not to sure where I'll be but over the course of the evening. I did some research and decided to go and book the Crystal Palace buffet for breakfast. I couldn't believe I was able to make a reservation. From what I've read, it is usually recommended to book it a full 180 days in advance so I'm very impressed and I hope it will be worth it.

Someone also suggested Ohana which only uses 1 dinner credit as well. I saw pics of it and it looks amazing. Ahh...I can't win haha. It will be two adults going so the Crystal Palace may not be necessary but I'm sure it would be a good experience. Anyone have any thoughts on Ohana?

Edit: It looks like Ohana is completely booked up.

Wow, you're so close to Disney time...so jealous. Our next trip is August still over the 100 day mark. Your ADR choices look great! Too bad you couldn't get Ohana's dinner. For your DTD dinner I suggest trying to get into Portobello's, Wolfgang Puck's, or Raglan Road. We are always happy with our meals at these restaurants....or Fulton's.
As far as another suggestion it's hard to say without knowing a definite game plan, leaves too many possibilities. Maybe a monorail resort restaurant? Grand Floridian Cafe, Kona Cafe or The Wave? It's always fun to check out the different resorts and these are 3 nice restaurants with good reviews to look into.

I appreciate the feedback. Ya...I booked it just last month so it is sudden and not a lot of time to plan everything out. I'm just excited to be going. I do plan on seeing a lot of the other resorts. I look forward to checking out The Boardwalk, Grand Floridian and Animal Kingdom Lodge. I think it's funny how I got into Crystal Palace but I couldn't get into Ohana. Oh well. I'll be sure to book well in advance for my next trip. Is that how it goes here? haha I'm already talking about my next trip before I've even gone and enjoyed the upcoming one. Disney never gets old and I'm going to also be looking into the Disney Cruise line option as well. I love the idea of the private island. It must be amazing.

Thanks for the input! I tried to book Ohana but couldn't get a spot. I managed to get the Crystal Palace for b-fast though lol. So that will take care of my last meal voucher. I'll just be using my table service options throughout the day on Saturday which is no biggie.

I always book O'Hana. The food is amazing. However, Kona is also really good. I didn't really enjoy WC when we went. The food was pretty bland but the service was great. Between the two you listed I would pick O'Hana. If you can't get ADR's, go for Kona.

BTW - Boma is delicious. I think that is a great choice. Try the panna cotta and the hummus.

Btw, we love CBR as a resort. Your ADRs sound perfect. Another recommendation for next time is to try to get Rose & Crown around 8pm so you can watch Illuminations from there. What a view and what great food!

Boma- I am in the minority also, by not really caring for this restaurant. AKL is beautiful, but may I suggest Sanaa at Kidani Village, we enjoyed gem three times

Citrico's- no opinion, we haven't tried this spot yet

Hollywood & Vine- food was disgusting and saw children several times at the buffet unattended putting their fingers in the food. I understand there isn't much of a choice though for the fantasmic package

Le Cellier- This is one of our favorite restaurants although we have never been there for lunch. Count yourself fortunate that you were able to snag this ressie on a short notice.

So it's a decent resort? It seems like people either really like it or will never come back. I guess I'll be finding out next month.

I always ask for building 25 or 26 in Martinique...its closest to the food court! I love CBR becuz the food court is like a lil tropical town...even the ceiling and hanging lights make u feel like u r walking outside! Plus, the resort as a whole is beautiful!! I cant wait to hear how you feel about it when you get back, but I think u will be happy!

U can call reservations and ask to have it noted.... or when u book ask for a preferred room! I have never found there to be too much walking, but ive always stayed in the buildings closest to OPR and the buses!

If you haven't made all of them now, make one for Yak and Yeti, the food is excellent, inspite of some of the reivews, and there is a desert that is fantastic. It's a must do on our yearly list. It's a sit down asian inspired meal that Is geat. I'm not big on asian food, but I love this place and it is so worth the time and energy, besides being near the Everest ride. ( do it Before you eat tho):ROFLOL:

Thanks for the recommendation. I've heard a lot of good things about yak but all of my dining credits are used up. I'm already planning my next trip just so I can book far in advance and get into the good places such as Ohana.
