So for a quick background my fiance and I have known each other since 1st grade, we were those little kids that passed notes, giggled all the time and got each other in trouble for it. We lost contact after 4th grade and started to get to know each other again after we both started college (we weren't even at the same college). Well... he knew that I am a HUGE Disney fan so about May of 2010 he brought up us going together. Of course I was on board. So we saved pennies and all and left January 8th 2011. We stayed until the 15th and had a day at Universal. The plan was that we were celebrating my 21st birthday a little early because that was the closet we could get the trip to my actual birthday because I had school. Well, not to long before we left he surprised me by saying we were going to eat in the castle ( I was so shocked that he did that all by himself). The only day they had was for our second to last night there, but it was okay because why not end with a bang right? Well, the start of the week went amazing! Now he is always doing random surprises at home like flowers for no reason or what not but before we left he looked me in the eyes and said he was sorry if he had got my hopes up but the dinner was all he had planned. Nothing else. I was not thinking anything nor was I upset, I told him that the best gift was just being here. So we got ready for the dinner which he insisted that we dress nice (I didn't understand at first because I figured most people would be jeans and t-shirts) but he convinced me by saying it will be a romantic evening focused on us and we will make it special and nice. So I was in a dress and he was slacks, coat and tie. Dinner was amazing! He even sang happy birthday to me when they brought me a birthday cupcake. After dinner we took shelter in Cosmic Rays Cafe because it was freezing! About 5 mins before the fireworks we decided to go outside and find a spot. We went out the side exit facing the Tangled meet and greet spot. At first we sat on the cement benches, watched Tinkerbell fly over and then the fireworks started. Now he is slightly shorter than me, and he said he couldn't see because of the trees. So me moved to the next bench, still couldn't see. Then he mentions the pavilion that is a little further over and downhill a little bit. There was NO ONE over there. I was unsure if we were able to see but I figured why not give it a try. Well it was an amazing spot!!! Not to mention no one is in our way and we are not getting bumped or anything. Well, I am enjoying the fireworks and I hear a whisper in my ear "So, I may have lied earlier when I said I didn't have anything planned" I turned around and I don't remember hearing fireworks or anything, except him asking me if I would marry him. I cried! I felt like the whole world stopped. I was so shocked! I couldn't remember if I had said yes when he asked so he told me later that I said yes about 3 or 4 times. It is a solitaire princess cut. After he put the ring on he pull out just engaged buttons which were in different pockets because while i was getting ready he had put them in different pockets trying to see which way they would be best so that i didn't hear them or see them. I found out later that I almost found the ring multiple times during the trip. Also, (now it is funny but at the it was not) during the dinner he was texting (i hate when people text at the dinner table) we didn't have our food yet so I let it slide but I did say several times to stop texting because we are at dinner...IN THE CASTLE! Well come to find out... he was texting who... my dad. My dad was asking him if he was doing it that night or if is was nervous. Well, anyway, the next day was our last day
so i wanted a picture of us in that spot (makes me laugh because we were the only ones under the pavilion and he picked right by the garbage cans haha) but when we go to get a picture the whole area is roped off because of wet paint. We tried talking to a cast member to see if we could get a picture and the reason, but he couldn't leave his camera, and we couldn't find someone to quickly take the picture
so we settled for a picture of just the spot with the wet paint sign. Made for an amazing memory and it was even more special that he found a spot that we could stand at and no one was around. I still can't stop smiling when I think about how it all happened.
